I believe that indicates a fault with the transmission.

SOURCE: I.P Brake light is staying on.. what does this mean

Hi,

Offhand, the brake light warning on most dashboards would indicate that the hand/emergency brake is engaged. If even when the hand/emergency brake is disengaged or is in normal position and the light is still lit, it could indicate that:

  • the brake fluid in the reservoir is below minimum level;
  • and possibly the brake shoes/pads need replacement.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: dashboard light (u-shape with exclamation point inside) came on

Ironically I had the "!" inside the "U" come on this morning as well in my 2007 M35x. Oddly this is indicating that you have low tire pressure. I suspect this is happening due to the temperature change. At least for me as I live in New England and it was very cold this morning.

SOURCE: yellow warning light on dashboard looks like

You have a low tire. Toyota Solaras and other Toyotas have tire sensor monitors. Go to a gas station and check the air on all of your tires including the spare. Once you get to the recommended pressure, you should be fine.

SOURCE: Warning light --Upside down horseshoe with exclamation point

It should be letting you know that you have a tire pressure problem. If you still have the owners manual read it. It will explain what to do, what to look for and how to reset the light if need be.

What does a exclamation mark mean when flashing

Sandra, I presume you see some flashing on the dash cluster panel. A check engine command with exclamation. If car runs, take to an auto parts store and they have a hand held computer device that can read the code fault problem for you. They don't charge anything. Write down the code fault number for later. They will tell you what is dysfunctional causing the flashing. They can usually recommend some place to have it fixed. Knowing what part needs to be replaced before you go to fix it shop will keep you from getting something done not needed. Get second opinion/cost for repair before having done if you can by telling them the fault code and part that needs replacing.

I had my transmission replaced in march 2011. Now when I reach about 2 & 1/2 rpm a exclamation point in a circle flashing pops up on my dashboard. What could this mean? It does it when I am driving on...

It is the "Check Transaxle/Transmission" light.

Ensure your transmission fluid is at the appropriate level, as it should be checked at least once after any transmission service is conducted. Low fluid will cause the light to go on when you come to a stop and the fluid level moves forward, exposing momentarily the low level sensor.

If your level is correct and the issue is still occurring, there is a problem within your transmission and it should be brought back to the people who replaced your transmission.

The dipstick for a mercury sable is located behind the motor, and is a hard to see (usually black) circle dipstick. Do not mistake it for the oil dipstick located in the front, transmission fluid is red. The stick could also be, yellow, or red. Bring a light.

The fluid level should be in BETWEEN the cross hatch pattern on the metal stick when the car has not been running.

I have a yellow flashing exclamation point that keeps flashing after i erase the code p0708 and i already put a new torque converter in my 2000 merc sable. i have looked at the wire that plugs in my...

This could be as simple as a bad transmission temperature sensor or a Neutral Safety Switch. Have the Neutral Safety Switch checked out first because the Transmission Temp. Sensor is fairly expensive.

Dashboard lights

Transaxle issue according to the manual. I have the same car. After I had to have the tranny rebuilt at 126K it started to blink. When I had a mechanic check into this deeper it turned out to be a bad transmisson tempature sensor. About a $400 fix.

Orange circle with a flashing exclamation point.

this usually indicates a gearbox fault. take it to a garage and they will plug a laptop into the vehicle and tell you what exactly the fault is.

hope this helps.
