2001 VW Beetle. Door chime stays on when door is closed, VW says it could be a faulty door sensor, but I don't know where it is. The door does not have a hydraulic button to indicate when closed, has to be a electric sensor. Anyone know where to find it. All fuses are good. Warning light on dash is not on. Also causes interior lights to stay on while driving. This problem comes and goes while driving.

VW 2000 Beetle 1.8 Turbo driver door lower hinge replacement, also replace the mirror switch as it broke off. And non stop door open chiming when door is closed.

The hinge is a big deal. You will have to remove the door panel and the fender. It is a pretty hefty job. While you have the door panel off you can replace the door latch for the door chime and also the mirror switch. Luckily it is all in the same door. Hope this helps.

1999 vw Beetle - door ajar sensor - dings while I am driving. I can slam door a few times and get it to stop - only to hit a rock and have it come on again. Is there a fuse to pull- I just put $550 into...

Sorry, but I don't think there is a quick, easy fix. I'm not sure if there is a fuse for it and if it is a 'shared' fuse. A one that is connected to other features such as the central locking.
It sounds like the switch for the door latch is faulty.
Unfortunately, it is built into the door latch mechanism so your going to have to strip down the entire door, remove the mechanism and strip that down as well.
It is a time consuming, pain in the *** job! But it is one you can do yourself. Be prepared for it to take you a whole day and cost you the skin from your knuckles.
You might be better off paying someone else to replace the mechanism.

Have a 2000 VW Beetle. The alarm won't turn off!

My 2000 Beetle does same thing (although not all the time). Just found an internet post that suggests there is a problem in the door lock sensor. I assume you are using a regular key - not
the keyless entry - like I am. He also said that you can disable the alarm (also disables the
keyless entry - which doesn't bother me) by leaving the front door AND the rear trunk open and
starting the car up. Seems to work so far. I will get the door lock sensor replaced and turn the
alarm system back on (not sure how yet), and let you know if that stops the problem.

Door open w/ key and headlights on alarm not sounding

The two most likely causes of this are either a door catch switch faulty, or the buzzer itself is faulty. If its the door catch switch that is faulty (I am assuming its the drivers door in question), then the control unit will never know that you have opened the door, and therefor the buzzer stays quiet. I would have thought that your car will have a red light that lights up on the dash when you open any door, so check if this operates when opening the door (try it with both doors to see if the light does exist). If this light only works on one of the doors then clearly there is a door catch switch fault. this can be down to the switch itself, located within the door catch or the wiring to it which can sometimes break inside the rubber boot from car to the door near the door hinges. Constant opening and closing the door causes this area to flex back and fourth, and wires sometimes break here.

If the fault is not related to the door, then it is likely to be the buzzer. They do occasionaly fail. Unfortunately they are integral with the dash panael insert (The part with the speedo and rev counter).

Fuse box diagram for a 2000 vw beetle

There should be a diagram in your Owner's Manual. I have one for my daughter's 1998 Beetle that should be the same as in the 2000 Beetle. Can email it to you if you post an email address that I can send it to.

98 VW Beetle-Door Ajar Chiming while driving

Your door lock module is bad. There are two ways to fix it. #1 is to replace the module. Various places online sell new ones for $160, while you can get them used for around $50. #2 is to replace the switch, which costs around $3-9, but then you have to remove the door lock module, remove the old switch, and mount/solder the new one in. You can also pull the door lock module and cut the wires going to the switch which will tell the door that it's always shut, and it will stop your dinging. That one's free, assuming you can get to the DLM.

91 toyota camry door ajar light stays on along with the chime

Probably a faulty door switch. Are you familiar with what I'm talking about. Little push like switches that the doors push on as they close, usually on door post by latch end, or sometimes in jamb of door at hinge end.

Warning chime continues to chime as I drive

My guess is a faulty switch at door for turning off interior lights/door closed, which is giving chime that door is still open
