SOURCE: Transmission fluids

If you have the 4 speed 4L30-E..........9.2 quarts (automatic)

And, if you have a manual:

Manual Transmission, W/ BW 5-SPD..........4.4 pints
Manual Transmission, W/O BW 5-SPD..........6.3 pints

Type of fluid is dextron or mercon III, you have to pump it in from the bottom.

Please don't forget to rate!!!!

SOURCE: 2002 Nissan Altima blowing cold air, coolant level

You could possibly have air trapped in the heater core. The easiest way to bleed it out is to jack up the front of the car till the radiator fill cap is higher than the upper heater hose using a funnel that fits snuggly in the filler neck of the radiator, fill till you have about three inches of coolant/antifreeze above the filler neckthen run the car at about 1500rpms until no more bubbles are evident. Also turn the heater onto face on low speed and feel if heat starts comming out.

2003 nissan altima se 3.5 l wont shift into 3rd gear

  • Low transmission fluid levels: If the transmission fluid is low, it can cause shifting problems. Check the fluid level and add more if necessary.
  • Faulty transmission control module (TCM): The TCM is responsible for controlling the transmission and if it malfunctions, it can cause shifting problems.
  • Clogged transmission filter: A clogged transmission filter can restrict the flow of fluid and cause shifting problems.
give it a try good luck

How many quarts of transmission fluid in what type go into a 2002 Nissan Altima for a full tranny rebuild

Use Nissan Altima Automatic Transmission Fluid and it should hold about 10 quarts total. I would fill with 9 quarts and start the engine and circulate the fluid. Check the fluid level and add what you need.

Two codes coming up on car even after fixing alot on car now need to figure out low cost ways to fix P0744 & P0722 code issues spent 1,800 on car & have spent 1,400 already in parts & labor.

you need a better mechanic that traces ALL of the possibilities of each code, not just read the code and trow in a part hoping that it's fixed ~ it can be wiring as well, not just plug in a new part as mentioned on the 2nd trouble code to the vehicle speed sensor

P0744 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent

P0722 Output Speed Sensor No Signal

the first of the 2 looks to be more intensive to trace and find out the problem & the 0722 is the easier job for an intermediate mechanic to trace the wiring for continuity

IF YOU ARE LOSING THAT MUCH FLUID THEN YOU HAVE A SEVERE LEAK, DO NOT PUT OFF HAVING IT CHECKED BECAUSE RUNNING A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LOW ON FLUID WILL CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE PRETTY QUICKLY

The clutch stuck in the down position. I had to use my foot to get it back up. It seems to work OK now. Is this something I need to take care of or just a one time deal

indicates you may have air in the hydraulic line (often caused by leak in slave cylinder). Check fluid level in clutch reservoir. If low, check slave cylinder on transmission for leak. If leaking, replace slave and bleed system. If you need directions, please let us know.
