Disconnect the fuel line off the carb then turn the starter over. There should be gas shoot out. If not your fuel pump may be shot. have you ever changed the fuel filter? If its plugged it will not work.

My 2001 Chevy Cavalier acts like it is not getting gas, a new fuel pump and fuel filter and line was put on and it quit again on me, another fuel pump, spark plugs or points was put on and still will

Check your lines, specifically where your filter housing goes into the fuel tank. I had the same issue and I just had to replace that filter along with a hose. It seems the line somehow got clogged. I hope you find this helpful.

Chevy 2001 Cavalier won't start

Trace the power source from fuse to relay etc and make sure pump is working. if all checks out then check pump working and for preasue at engine. you may have a dammaged fuel line from the tank which would also cause the same problem

Car not starting or getting gas

Someone needs to check the fuel pump relay and the fuel pressure.
Could be electrical, the fuel filter, or a weak pump among other things.

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

I have a 2001 Chevy cavalier that has been sitting about 7 months. I went to start and battery was dead so I went and bought a new battery and installed. The car cranks fine but will not start. I sprayed a...

The fuel is a likely cause of problems in this case. One possibility is a clogged fuel filter. If the tank wasn't completely full, it may be possible for condensation to form in the tank as a result of changes in temperature and weather, which can lead to water and rust in the tank. Fuel changes on long storage too, forming varnish which can prevent enough fuel getting to the engine. Long story short, the safe thing would be to have the car towed to a shop and have the fuel system checked out, because continued attempts to start the engine with dirty fuel can cause more problems.

1999 chevy cavalier fuel gage

Most of the time the level sensor in side of the fuel tank is the problem. I'd say 1 out of 10 the cluster is bad. But with the way you say it was acting up before hand I'd put my money on the level sensor and not the cluster. The fuel tank will need to come out of the car to fix this. There is not access door to the fuel pump.
