I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix air temp sensor may be bad

I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix and we think the outside air temp sensor is bad, sometime it reads the exterior air temp at like 34 degrees when it's really 94 degrees and the the a/c won't work. Don't know where the sensor is located or if this is even what causes the a/c not to blow cold air.

The air sensor yur thinking of is usually found out front of the car on the post that supports the hood latch betwween the radiator assemblies and the oute decorative grill. go to your auto parts store like autozone and ask for the ambient air temp sensor. then if they can, ask for a diagram of its location. Its real easy to replace usually one bolt and one wire clip. Autozone has /offers these do it yourself repar guides that can help you .

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

I have a 1998 grand prix supercharger and I am not sure if its the catalyc converter or the sensor issue but it runs for days great and then just wants to stop.. took it to a mechanic and had it up on a...

One quick way to rule out the catalytic converter is to get a thermal imager and check the inlet and outlet temp of the cat with the engine running. A good cat will have a higher temp at the outlet. If not then the cat is bad.

A/C blows but not cold air....the temperature reading is off...but then sometimes the temperature reading is fine and the air works

The outside air temperature is reading sometimes off then the ac does not work? The ambient air temperature sensor located right by the front grill is probably malfunctioning. If it reads below a certain temp it sees no reason to turn the air on so it doesn't let you.

1999 pontiac grand prix gt dual climate control not working prope

The sensor is located near the hood latch area in front of the radiator. If the temp is reading incorrectly, chances are it is defective. You can purchase a new one, they relativly inexpensive.
Disconnect the electrical connector then remove the sensor.
Good luck, let me know.

1997 pontiac grand prix gtp power steering

I had this exact car and I had all the same problems your talking about, The pump although I can't tell you for sure is on the left side of the engine as your looking at it. If it is whining it is because it is low on fluid, also when topping it off fill it to the full mark while it is running. If it is foamy turn the steering wheel all the way left and all the right a few time to help get rid of the air. You may have to let it sit a while to let the bubble escape, check and do this again, it could be a bad pump also. The overheating problem I had with mine was a bad temp sensor for the computer. It has two temp guages and the computer uses on to activate the fan as needed. I also had another problem with mine, on the front of the intake is a small plastic elbow for a heater hose and this goes bad. Had to replace mine. Wasn't hard, and the part was cheap. Hope this helps you!
