99 Lincoln tc warmed up with out reservoir cap on ...got to normal temp and blowed heat as I wanted.....coolant level rised and it started to pour out replaced it air turned cold compressor kicked on

  • don-ohio Jan 12, 2017

No reason it should've boiled out the reservoir UNLESS you had < 50% antifreeze in the system.
The heater turned cold when the fluid was pushed out of the heater core, maybe.
The air conditioner compressor will come on on defrost or mix mode or AUTO mode.
Put about 60-65% antifreeze mix in there and bleed it so there's no air in system. Tighten the cap and see if it is okay.
There should not be continuous bubbles coming up. don-ohio

SOURCE: No Heat in 99 Taurus

Just finished fixing my daughters 1999 taurus heat. It would blow warm only when running down the road. At idle it blew cold. I started with replacing thermostat, and water pump because they are the easier fix. Still did not help. Then I replaced the heater core. A daunting job but not that hard to move the dash slighly out of the way to replace. There is a good write up at tarusclub.com. After that, heat was better but at idle, it would still blow cool sometimes. Researched and found answer. Park car on the steepest hill you can find with front of car up. Start car and take off reservoir cap. Let car warm up and keep rpms about 1500. After a while the fluid will come running out of the car and all over the place but it will bring air bubbles with it. Reduce rpm, add more fluid and repeat about 3 times. It will make a mess but after that, the heater works perfectly. We get heat long before the temp gage indicates any and it never blows cold unless you lower the temp.

SOURCE: 2003 Lincoln LS V8 3.9.

I dont think the coolant is boiling, I think you have an air bubble in your system wich is causing a air lock and youll need it flushed out. Your reservior cap should be tight always.. never loose this is an air tight system and your allowing it to get air in it. I have a 2002 linc ls and just had to pay 1000.00 to replace the system because I let an air lock go for too long and had so much back pressure I blew up my reservior.

Testimonial: "Thanks a lot. I've changed the coolant reservoir and reservoir cap. now it seems everything is ok with my car. so, your advise was really helpful."

My heater blows only warm air. and I feel it could also blow more air. What could be the cause ?

start by checking the cabin filter and replacing if necessary. That's the source of outside air.

How to burp a raditor in a 2005 chev silverado 5.3 1500

Remove the cap from the reservoir. Fill the reservoir to the proper level. Start the vehicle and let idle until full warmed up. Keep an eye on the coolant level in the reservoir during this time and top off as necessary. Once the vehicle is fully warmed up snap the throttle a couple of times. Add more coolant if necessary.

Turn the heat on to full heat and set the blower speed to high. Make sure there is sufficient heat from the vents. If not continue snapping throttle until the temp is hot.

Put the cap back on the reservoir. Your done.

How bleed coolant line on a 2005 chevy avalanche

You need to start this when it's cool not hot take your radiator cap off start the engine start adding water into the radiator keep checking it with your finger and keep adding when the water turns warm to the touch keep adding water if it's taking it and squeeze your upper radiator hose continuously to burp out the air keep adding water try that and see how it works

Heat goes in and out and the temp gauge goes up and down

Your temp sensor has nothing to do with your heater. The temp sensor needs coolant in order to work properly. So first check the coolant level because if it is low your heater will act the way you describe. Once the coolant gets low enough the heater will blow cold. Another possibility is the radiator cap. After the engine has warmed up it expands when it cools down it contracts. As it is contracting if the cap is weak air can be drawn into the system and cause air pockets to form and will cause the same problem

99 continental temp gauge not rising

Usually a sign of a faulty thermostat or temp gauge sending unit.
If the engine really is not reaching normal temp you would be burning more fuel.
Assuming the radiator is full of coolant, you could test the sending unit for the gauge, but my money is on a new thermostat.

Air pockets in radiator

Air can be purged. While your engine is cool remove radiator and reservoir caps. Place funnel in radiator. Turn heat to the highest position and start vehicle. Add coolant to radiator as needed while vehicle warms up. You should see bubbles coming out of radiator. Fill reservoir to between cold and hot fill lines. Replace caps when bubbling stops but before coolant temperature reaches normal operating temperature. Never remove the radiator cap until engine has fully cooled down.

My heater is blowing cold air and the temp gauge is rising; do I need a new heater or is it something else? I regulary put in fuel injector cleaner every 3000 miles. When I searched for Heater Cores it...

it sounds like you are running out of coolant. refill and check for leaks. The coolant reservoir may have a leak. Your thermostat may need replacement.

I am putting in a new radiator on my 99 hyundai sonata 2.5 l how much radiator fluid do it hold

i do not know exactly but that size vehicle usually holds almost two gallons, fill it up, put the cap on the radiator, run the vehicle until the temp guage is at normal operating temp, then turn the vehicle off. after about a 15 min wait, use a rag and take the radiator cap off slowly and make sure there isn't any pressure behind it. after removing, top off the radiator again and fill the overflow tank to the max level. this should get all the air out and get you on the road again. check again everytime you get gas for a couple times making sure that the level is good.

2004 Chevy Tahoe. Heater working only at higher speeds.

you have air trapped in the cooling system. A good indication is that one or both of your heater hoses going into the heater core are cold when they should be hot.
Park facing uphill, raise front of vehicle so radiator cap is higher than top of engine. (You want bubble to get to radiator and out the cap.)
Leave cap on but loose, so bubble can purge.
Turn heater on.
Fill radiator and reservoir with 50/50 mix of antifreeze.
Start engine and run at about 1500 roms until the engine warms up and thermostat opens.
You will know themostat opens when top radiator hose is hot indicating coolant is flowing.
Shut off engine.
Fill radiator and reservoir. Install cap.

please Rate as fixya if this works. good luck
