My BMW X5 battery went flat. I fitted a new battery.. this worked but after a week the new battery goes flat. Also it has now developed phantom electrical faults.

dealer only i think ,these cars have a mini computer behind the dash and in common with a lot of cars if the battery goes slowly down then brown out will occur ,i do a lot for the airport parking and cars left without batteries disconnected because the shunt drivers are in a rush or dont like getting dirty hands then this gives me aggro when i have to sort them out .Last week or so a jaguar with immobilisor coming on ,,,easy fic but a BMW X5 ?new computer and dealer only ,citreon C4 same problem new everything from transponder to computer and reprogram the the lot cost over a 1000euros the BMW was 2500euros .

somthing inside your car is puling amps

If you spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine does it start? If so check you fuel pump circuit.

Try the starter terminals.

hello theringbar, I would recommend checking the a/c blower resistor. it is an electronic final stage and can kill the battery overnight. the final stage is located on the passenger side at the back of the a/c heater box.

My car has been sitting since May and i would start my BMW every once and awhile but the last time I started it was around July 11th and a week later my battery was died and now today I went to unlock my BMW x5 car door and it wont unlock. Do I need to charge my battery?

Yes it is possible to install the factory sat nav in you X5, but apart from the head unit you will also need:

1. new wiring loom
2. dvd navigation unit installed at the back
3. TMC radio unit again at the back
4. bluetooth unit

All the interior needs to come out i.e seats, floor carpets, door trims.

If you feel brave enough then there are BMW forums which gives you very detailed information on how to to it, but don't expect to get it done in a day or even two, a week is probably realistic time. It took me 2 weeks to do my first 3 series.
