My 2009 saturn vue won't start and key is stuck in ignition. I tried moving the steering wheel and checked the shifter but nothing.

Your steering wheel might be in a bind with the key lock. Try turning on the wheel while you turn the key.

the key must turn, jiggling steering can help the key too turn.
we do not know what turn over means, the word turns has zero meaning .(accurate)
the starter turns, the crank shaft spins and turns and the engine turns and starts and runs and stays running this good serial event
or the KEY is stuck and key will not turn OVER from OFF TO , RUN and to START,

so learn to say I can crank it ok but the engine fails to start and run.
I guess (wild) the starter is DEAD< silent, clicks or chatters.>?

Force your stearing wheel slightly clockwise and try to turn or try to remove key at the same time. If that doesn't work then try to move the shifter to any position then if you can shift it back quickly to park and then you should be able to move your key ??

Check you have enabled gear shift.

Try moving your steering wheel to the left then jiggle the key until it releases, if no luck try the same thing moving the steering wheel to the right, or combination of both ways, If this works then there is nothing to worry about, it can happen almost to any vehicle, you are just in between the wheel locking mechanism and the ignition start or the removal of the key, a common problem in the design of the wheel lock, to prevent it from happening again, just have your steering wheel were you want it before starting or turning off you car. the gear shifter may not be fully in park also sometimes if the steering wheel is jaming try to move steering wheel and check vehicle is fully in park is key stuck in the on position or can you turn off car or you just cant remove key

Can you give more details towards what you see and have done or checked? Is the battery dead? Did you check to see if the steering wheel is pulling against the ignition lock. Maybe the wheel needs to be turned one way or the other to take the pressure off the locking mechanism.

It was very likely that the problem turning the key was due to the steering column lock mechanism. Sometimes when you lock the steering wheel, if you the mechanism will bind up, making it difficult to unlock the ignition with the key. Often when this happens, you will be parked on a hill with your wheels agains a curb or some such item. Once you turn the wheel hard to the right (or left), the pressure is released on the locking mechanism, and the key will turn easily. This is a similar situation to what can happen in an automatic if you park on a hill without the parking brake.
try doing this:
pop the off the circle piece around the ignition and the holster cover under the steering wheel.
that ought to work.

try wd40 and shaking the key, what happens is one of the tumblers get stuck and wont let the key turn if that dosnt work let me know worst case you will have to replace the ignition its about $35 to $40 and a few hours.
