I have a 2000 expedition with premium sound that has controls for a cd changer and a CHM-S601 changer from a 1998 Mercedes will they be compatible?

Most likely, not. If the CD changer is a JVC, some car manufactures use name brand components, then you should be able to find an adapter. 99% of the time it has to be JVC to JVC, Sony to Sony, etc. I came across a similar situation and decided to use a head unit with a USB input, now I have thousands of songs on a USB mem. stick and no longer need the CD changer and gained some extra room in the back of the vehicle.

Take it in for service, the sensor is either dirty or faulty. Your sensor that sees if the magazine is in has gone bad

This system is very complicated and unfortunatly you need a scan tool and a d2b ring tester unless you are very familiar with the fibre optic ring set up for this vehicle. most likley your c.d. player is defective-is their also a phone and do you have sound from the speakers when operating normal radio function

Hi, Joe here to help. The cd changer is at fault. You need to replace the changer. The system is on a fiber optic loop which cuts out the sound if can not complete that loop.

I'm not quite sure, but my expy has a cd changer in it.  The changer itself lives in the arm rest storage area (not in the back or the glove box). first step would be to see if your radio would support a changer, then I suspect you'd have to wire it up.
