2000 S-40 Seat Belts cut into side panel when pulling in or out.

Ever since I purchased the car new, the dealer has procrastinated & not been willing to repair or come up with a fix to resolve this problem. Now I have 1/2"-1" cuts on the side panels, where the seat belts come out & retract. The belts hang up in the cut plastic & are difficult to use. If the dealer & Volvo won't help, can someone suggest some sort of a "sleeve" or replacement part from another car that would work, or maybe there's a State or Federal law I could use, to enforce cooperation from the unwilling dealer.

Most states have a department of automotive consumer affairs. I would check your state's online site's Department of Motor vehicles to file a complaint. The states are generally very good at helping the consumer on problems like yours. Let me know how they respond.
Thanks.

97 Chrysler Seabring Conv. 2.5 L eng. Seabelts (driver and pasenger) lock up and you can't pull them out to buckle. both seats at the same time. Fuses check out o.k. Local shops don't want to deal...

It sounds like a problem with the seatbelt retractors and/or timer modules to me. The seat belt retractors and timer modules are seviced only as an assembly and probably need to be replaced. The only place to purchase new units is the dealer. It may be difficult to find a dealer that can get them for you on a 14-year-old car. I have ordered replacements that old before, but had to settle for belts that didn't match the color of the original belts because that was all that was available. You will have even further difficulty because the seat belts in the convertible are different from all the other Sebrings. The seat itself must be disassembled for repair once new seat belt retractors are located.

How do you remove the rear speakers from a 2004 chevy impala?

Remove the rear seat. On later models remove the rear upper quarter panel by pulling down & out to disengage the retainer clips, then sliding the roof leg out from under the trim panel over the door. Detach the rear seat belts through the slot in the rear parcel shelf. Pry up the plastic clips securing the rear parcel shelf. Then lift up & out to remove it from the vehicle. Remove the speaker retaining screws or tabs. If the speaker seal has bonded with the metal shelf, hold the tabs & pry the housing away from the metal. Disconnect the electical connector & remove the speaker. Install in reverse order. Good luck!

Can I get and install seat belts?

The very best place to find seat belts at a good price is at a salvage yard. Yes you can install them yourself. They simple bolt in. Of course you have to remove some trim pieces to get to the bolts. If you want new belts then there are many places that sell them. http://www.seatbeltcity.com/?gclid=COSf-fi8saECFQEbswodCikcBA

My rear seat belt on the driver's side will only pull out about 1 foot and then freezes. It will retract, but doesn't come out any further. I have tried pulling firmly, slowly, fast, nothing seems to...

The ratchet mechanism is damaged and it must be replaced. Know that most salvage yards will not sell you this part as it is a serious liability. Safety belts are no place to short cut. This will be a dealer only part most likely unless you can find a aftermarket replacement.

What causes this? Wear and tear over time or an accident.

94 Jeep Wrangler Seat Belt Installation

your jeep should have all the holes and thread nuts already installed. pull up the carpet and locate them. the two close to the center are for seat belts as are the two outside of them. the four holes that form a large square/rectangular area are for the seat. if your seat is fold and tumble type, holes on the left wheel well are for the locking mechanism. i just pulled mine out and filled the thread holes with new bolts to keep out the water and dirt. yours may have screws or plugs in them. this install is for factory type only. mike

Seat belt repair

first for the switch in window
the window switch is easy to test you just gotta remove switch out of the door leaving it hang there is a way to test with a guaged wire with fuse on it
take the main power wire and touch to the other connectors on the main switch if the window goes down or up the switch is the problem
im suggesting this way first with fuse cause its easier then testing the windows motor inside the door frame the switches should just pop out of the panel with out haveing to take panel off

now the seat belts there are 2 style that are common to chevy
one is inside the molding of the drivers panel you gotta pop off the panels easily and gently to get at the seat belt retractor this will be bolted to the metal under the molding

the other style is in the seat which you gotta unbolt the seat under the top half it will need to be unbolted at the bottom top half of seat
when you pull threw the top section of top half of seat remember to tie a string to the end so that when you pull threw top half the string will be there so you can connect too new belt and pull back threw with ease make the string long enough to hang

now the bottom half of seat what i call the "**** seat" you remove the molding at bottom around the belt retractor this will be bolted to floor bolt also pull belt threw molding once molding removed
disconnect any electric wires

now saftey issue involved with seat belt removal is for a reason i dont know of the dealer ship always discharges the belts and air bags once removed i guess because of static electricity becareful when you remove belt and replacing belts cause static elec. can set them off
once your seat belt is removed place in card board box and take to dealer after complition of installing new belt they will discharge your seat belt for you and then you can dispose of it properly
