What would cause my 99 Chrysler 300m to shut off well I'm approaching a. Stop sign and won't turn back on it has gas battery good

  • Steven Jan 01, 2020

I had this same issue with mine. Every time I went to stop at a stop sign or light it was like someone just reached over and turned the key off on me. Would have to sit and wait about 5 to 10 mins b4 the car would restart, it would run rough for a little bit and then smooth out. If this sounds like you're issue, I'd recommend replacing the crank shaft positioning sensor and the camshaft positioning sensor. If you replace one it's best to replace both. I'd recommend looking at Rockauto for the parts. Will be extremely cheaper than the parts stores.

Hmmmmm......I'd have the alternator output checked at idle and check that battery to make sure it has proper strength. don-ohio (:^)

SOURCE: 1999 chrysler 300m wont crank, code P0340

Sounds like the timing belt broke. Unfortunately this vehicle was not equiped with no contact valves so if that is the case you will need to have the engine and Head rebuilt. If the crank position sensor can't sense the position of the crank it should shutdown the electrical to keep you from damaging your engine.

Not start after sitting

Never scrap a car that's still in good shape. Check that all fluids are up and put a fresh battery in it and turn the key to on. You'll hear the fuel pump run till pressure is up, then crank it over. Should start up and be ready to run.

We have a 1999 chrysler 300m and long story short my husband hooked up a new battery wrong and started sparking, he did unhook the battery then hooked it back up the correct way and the car did start, but...

Hooking up the battery wrong probably shorted out the alternator so that it not charging. The car was running off the battery and discharged it causing the lights to turn off and the car to want to stall. You will need to have the electrical system checked for damage.

We have a 2003 chrysler 300m. Shut car off this morning and now key will not turn ignition switch

You might try turning your steering wheel back and forth and maybe changing your tilt while trying to turn the key. It sounds like your steering wheel lock is stuck which is common. Sometimes it just takes playing with it to get it to turn. Another problem that causes this is the gear selector not being in the right spot causing it not to let the ignition turn. Hope this helps and good luck!
