Shot in the dark, but make sure it's in park and also block the wheels (front and back) and try to start it in neutral.

SOURCE: RE: 1993 Dodge Dakota - truck won't start,

From your description, the solenoid is defective. The key (start) circuit provides power to the small terminal on the solenoid. With the key off, try shorting the small terminal of the solenoid to the large terminal that has the heavy battery cable attached. If no action, short the small terminal to the solenoid mounting bolt. One of these two actions should operate the solenoid. If nothing, the solenoid coil is open--replace the solenoid. Make sure the frame-to-engine ground-strap is intact and connected tightly on both ends.

How can I get my dodge Dakota to start after charging the battery and checking the starter?

That could be an immobilizer problem check if you have an immo light flashing or a sort of incorrect code warning indicator

Engine barely cranks to start when hot

There are some facts which come to bear in this case of hard starting. When the engine is hot, all moving parts are also hot. When metal is heated like the air in a balloon is heated, it expands. When the pistons and rings in the engine expand they create more friction within the cylinder and thus more crank power is required of the starter. What do I do to fix this? First, check to see that there are no loose, frayed or broken wires in the battery to starter or starter to ground connections. Second, ensure that your battery is fully charged and at 59 F. By having a warm, fully charged battery you ared delivering maximum cranking amps to the starter. If the starter still does poorly with a cold engine then it is time to remove the starter. While starters can be repaired, it is usually cheaper and faster to purchase a reconditioned or new one. Once your replacement starter is installed that should do the trick! There are some remote possibilities which could complicate your efforts like if you had a recent front end collision or your engine has overheated recently but generally the mainstream problems have been the focus in this repair description. Cheers. Al

Why won t my car turnover

  • Okay, a clicking sound is the solenoid engaging the starter drive gear but the starting motor is not turning over. First possible is low battery. Second is bad or dirty connection, usually battery terminal. Good enough to energize solenoid but not enough amps to spin starter. Third is a bad starter motor, usually a brush corroded, worn or stuck.
  • Lift the hood and look at the battery terminals. if they are clean and tight, check the battery for charge. I usually hook a booster on and try cranking the engine over. ZIf it works, charge or replace the battery.
  • If it didn't crank, Take a jumper cable and connect the one end to the battery positive. Touch the other end to the starter motor terminal. Motor should turn over, if not, replace the starter.

What cause the car want start even if u jump it it just cleick

Start with the basics, here. Check that battery cables are not loose and are CLEAN, on the battery AND the starter. Beyond that, check the battery charge with a volt meter. Fully charged should be 12.5 volts or higher, you will lose starter spin at 10 volts. If the battery is low, hook it up to a charger and charge it up completely. If you don\'t have a voltmeter, go to the store and buy one. If you\'re going to try and fix things like this, you have to have one. If you can\'t do that, remove the battery and take it to someplace like AutoZone. They will charge and test the battery for free. If you can\'t take the battery out, or don\'t have a friend that can, have the car towed to your mechanic.

Here\'s the thing- I can\'t tell you exactly why, but some cars you just can\'t jump start. Happens more on side mount post type batteries. Because you can\'t jump your car doesn\'t mean it won\'t start with a fully charged battery. Now there are other things that could be wrong with you car, that it won\'t crank over and start for you.....but we begin the diagnosis with the battery.

1993 mbz 300e won't turn over, battery full charge and buzzing noise from relay area.

hi,

the first thing that I would check is to make sure your battery is fully charged or try and jump the battery using another car battery.
if still no go then I would say that your starter solenoid is bad.
while checking the solenoid/starter double check to make sure your block to body ground cable is secure.

hope this helps,

My 1993 cadillac eldorado is cranking slow and i just change the alternator

If the battery is fully charged but the starter is slow, the starter may have an internal short or may just be worn out. Make sure your battery is fully charged and the battery terminals are clean and tight though before buying a new starter.

1993 Plymouth Sundance will not start or turn over?

Make sure battery is fully charged. Connect a test light to battery ground and touch batt+ to check if light. Now test that there is power to the starter heavy wire directly connected to the starter. If power, good. Now test for cranking power to solenoid wire which is on top of starter; have someone cranks as you check for power. If there is power, starter could be acting up. If not, check all fuses and neutral switch. Be careful working around moving and hot parts.
