SOURCE: Parking lights on Nissan Frontier on - trailer

First check the fuses. There may be one for trailer running lights. Check also power at the harness. If the brake lights and turn signals are seperate, there has to be a converter from 5 to 4 wire. For the power to feed back to the brake lights it sounds like the vehicle wiring is direct and not using a converter... or one of the bulbs on the trailer is contacting both contacts. Try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx and maybe get a simple 4 pin tester that plugs into the 4 pin connecter. Hope this helps.

Ignore the white wire .No need to connect the white wire.white wire is not going to be used at all so I can shrink wrap the end of the wire? The exhaust side plugs for emissions is a myth. Both plugs fire together to give two ignition sources which shortens the burn time and requires less ignition advance. Nissan's intent was that this set up will allow more EGR to be used to control emissions but luckily it also is good for mileage and efficiency.

The white wire? It's part of a system that can tell the distributor to revert back to single plug operation to reduce engine noise when passing or climbing a hill. A vacuum switch grounds the white wire and the distributor turns off the exhaust side plugs, but it also advances the timing to compensate for the longer burn time of a single plug. When power is reduced the switch opens and the distributor changes back to dual plug and retards the ignition.
---------------------

The Red (I) wire goes to the exhaust coil's negative terminal. The positive terminal goes to ignition switch power in the on position.

The Blue (E) wire goes to the intake coil's negative terminal. The positive terminal goes to ignition switch power in the on position.

The Black/White stripe wire goes to the ignition switch power in the on position.
-------- With power on the Black/White wire and engine turning over, will cause both the Red and the Blue wire to turn on and off to fire the coils. -------- There are three wires coming from the distributor: Red, Blue and Black/White.

In operation and the ignition key is on, power flows through the Black/White wire and into the distributor to power it.

At the same time power from the ignition flows to the positive terminal of both coils.

When the engine is turning, the module inside the distributor applies and removes ground on the red and blue wires that go to the negative coil terminals and they fire.---

The coils have 12 volts on them at all times the ignition is on. The distributor's job is to make and break a ground connection on the other side of the coil to complete the circuit. ------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

How do I drain the tranny fluid on my 2000 auto nissan frontier 2wd pick up truck? I cant seem to find the drain bolt on tranny, does the pan need to b dropped or am I just not seeing the drain bolt? what...

I suggest you flush the trans. Most automatics do not have a drain plug any more. If so much is in the pan that the filter is clogged, you have a greater problem. You can flush the trans by removing a trans line in the radiator and putting a hose on it. get a Short line that fits into the radiator the same size and put a hose line on it. have about 12 qts of Dextron 4 and start it up in park. as it pumps out the fluid, slowly poor into the funnel. after about eight qts. shut it down, re-hook up the line and then fill the trans to the full mark on the dip stick. This is important. Spend the extra 15 bucks and by a bottle of Black Lube Guard. Nothing but Lube guard. It has an agent that will lubricate your valve body without hurting the seals. Stay away from anything that says "Seals" trans. It has an agent that attacks the integrity of rubber seals and is only a very temp. solution and will over time cause damage to a good trans.

If your fluid is brown, you may be all right. If it is black you have a real problem and don't expect a flush to help. You can take it to a shop that has a flush machine and get the same thing done for around a 100 bucks.

Hope this helps.

When changing the transmission fluid on a 2.5 4

Should be around 2 2 1/2 quarts, just fill it up until it starts to leak out, and plug it back up, since manual trans don't have a dipstick, check it with an allen wrench.
