1st thing to check would be the alternator, to make sure it's charging the battery. If it's not, the red battery light would come on. Most major parts stores offer free battery and charging system checks, they can tell you if the alternator is not charging. Have it checked asap, as the new battery will be dead soon if it's not being charged. countrycurt0

Sounds like a short in the wiring or fuse panel. As new as it is, I would suggest a mechanic as troubleshooting wiring in newer cars is not only difficult, but also dangerous. Many a shade-tree mechanic has set off the airbags that way!

On my 1999 Cirrus the speedometer would work sometimes and other times not. Now not at all. The cruise control always works though. I have a shop manual and found that the instrument cluster has self diagnostics. Press in the digital odometer button and hold it. Then turn the ignition on without starting. The needles will then move to different positions, then each indicator light will come on one at a time. If the speedometer needle doesn't move during diagnostics, then you need to replace the circuit board that attaches to the back of the cluster. Some of the basics to check.
Listen to hear if your fuel pump turns on.
Test fuel pressure. There is a valve on the fuel rail that looks like a tire valve. Put a rag over it and push the valve in. Did fuel spray out?
Do you have spark? Remove one spark plug from the engine. Connect the wire to it normally as it would be connected in the engine. Lay the plug on a bare-metal surface of the engine. Try to make sure the threads touch metal. Stand back a step, and do not touch the engine during this test. Have someone turn the key and crank the engine over a few times. Do you see any spark jump the gap? You may need darkness to do this test. No spark on any plug means the coil pack is dead.
Get some starting fluid and give a little squirt in all the cylinders. Remove the plugs one by one, and squirt it in, reinstalling the plugs as you go. Turn the engine over again and see if it fires. If you get it to fire like this, you have a fuel problem. This could be anything from a bad pump, to a broken computer that isn't telling the injectors to open.
