Car starts and runs fine at times. Then other times it will crank and no start. No code light is present. 1998 dodge neon.

Son replaced cps, coil check and replaced cpm.

Possible warning of a fuel pump failure. I would change fuel filter and see if that helps. If not it may be time for a fuel pump change. As long as it cranks the same way Everytime whether it starts or not it wouldn't be in the ignition system.

Automatic transmission or manual trans . ? If automatic ,maybe the park neutral safety switch . Manual maybe clutch start switch . Try moving from park to neutral on a automatic trans. Your crank position sensor is bad. Check it for voltage with the key in the on position. If the crank sensor is not working the car will not start.

probably water pump, and it is run off the timing belt, so that probably broke when the pump died. if the belt broke the car wolnt start.

it sound like you have a bad crank sensor when the sensor gets hot it open circuits inside the sensor and you loose spark if you have access to a noid light see if you are loosing injector pulse also if so then you know its a good chance its the crank sensor

The timing belt may not be broken,but is it missing any teeth,sounds like it has jumped timing,i would remove the cover and inspect it real good.

sounds like some water has got into an electrical plug somewhere. you will have to get an electrician to look at it.
