SOURCE: How do you replace brakes on 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

The engine size don't matter except when you order the parts. First you will want to chock the rear tires. This is a front wheel drive, when you jack the front, park wont work. you should also set the parking brake.
You will want a metric socket set and rachet, and a fairly large flat head screw driver.
Remove the wheel.
When you look at the brakes, you should see 2 bolts holding them on, If they have a star shape that looks like a screw driver might fit in it, it is a torx bit, you will need to replace the wheel and go get one. The guy at the parts store should be able to tell you what size.
I'm pretty sure it is going to be a regular hex nut, probably 12 or 13mm.
You can loosen them, but don't remove them yet.

First you need to depress your caliper. This can be done a couple ways.
I just insert a screw driver between the pad and the rotor(the shiny thing that the pads make contact with.) Carefully pry the inner pad slowly away from the rotor. Don't scratch the rotor, you can dig into the pad all you want, your putting new ones on.
Once the inner pad is all the way in, then you can remove the bolts and the caliper will slide out.
Remove the old pads and replace with the new.
Put the caliper back on, make sure you get the bolts tight.
Do the other wheel the same way.
The other way to get the caliper pushed in, by the way.
Remove the bolts, remove the caliper from the rotor, Use a large "c" clamp to depress the cylinder.

P.S. Do not under any circumstances remove your brake lines.

When you are finished with brakes and have tires replaced....

Caution!!! Before you start your car, pump your brakes a few times. Check your brake fluid. You more than likely wont need any, but you should always check it.
Also, do not add brake fluid before replacing pads, the level is going to be higher with new pads.

Back brakes will be similar if it is disc, if it is drum, do your self a favor and have some one else do it or get a service manual. I could walk you thru it, but you need more tools and you have to adjust them....
Better to pay $100 or so and have it done right.

SOURCE: Fuel gauge doesn't work 1999 pontiac sunfire

check fuses, remove sender unit from tank, connect ohm meter to it and physically move arm up and down slowly and check for increase/decrease in resistance,if this is ok then supply power to the wiring to gauge and see if the needle rises,if no change in resistance sender is rooted,if no change in gauge when it is supplied power then the gauge is rooted, when diagnosing electrical probs always check fuses firstelectrical

1997 pontiac sunfire crank no start condition. Have spark, no codes, have injector pulse, good fuel pressure. But it seems that the injectors are not letting fuel into the cylinder.

Did you check the actual voltage reading to fuel injectors? I wondered about a voltage drop? Your fuel pump relay supplies voltage to both fuel pump and fuel injectors.
In the diagram, the gray wire is voltage and the other color is ground controlled by computer. Did you check fuel injectors, individually?I'd want to use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Fuel--spark--compression--timing. There are other ways to get fuel in the engine besides fuel injectors, Just to see if engine will hit? There are safety issues, safety is your responsibility.

Fuse for fuel pump on 2001 pontiac sunfire

There are some logical steps need to be taken 1st. Verify if the engine has air, fuel and spark. Fuel can be checked with an inline gauge at the fuel rail. There could be several different things wrong. Bad ECM, fuel pump, injectors, fuel pressure regulator etc. Need to verify spark, this too may have several different problems. Bad ECM again, power/ground circuit faults, coil pack ect.

Theft fuel enable-incorect no signal

This is due to a faulty antitheft system. Your vehicle cuts fuel when the antitheft its triggered. Maybe a bad key, ignition lock cylinder, or theft deterrent module. There is a way to bypass this system on this link.

I need a pictorial diagram for starter replacement on a 1999 pontiac sunfire w/ 2.2 liter engine

Common misdiagnosis on GM vehicles is to think the starter is broken when acually the antitheft system has turned it off. Check for a light on the dash that says SECURITY when the car wont start. If you see it, then this is your problem, not the starter. Here is a link on the subject, and possible solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Where is the inertia switch located on the 2005 pontiac sunfire

Hello kmcwil: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help you. On this particular car there is no inertia switch. The PCM or ECM controls the function of the fuel pump. Located under the hood you will find a fuse box. You will find a relay that is marked fuel pump. These two are all that controls the fuel pump. Also check the ECM,ignition and fuel pump fuses.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer. This way I know the information helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
