How to reset check engine light on 2000 olds silhouette

precedure:
1. turn ign key to "ON" (engine off)
2. push accelerator pedal fully to the floor and slowely release 3 times within 5 seconds
3. turn ign off
4. start light should be off

A diagnostic scanner that reads OBD1 (the system by which your vehicle processes trouble codes) will be required, many parts stores do this a s a free service. Check with them to see if they charge. You have to go to a shop and get them to put it on an ABS scanner to see if you broke a wire or the codes just need to be reset. only a scan can tell you what is wrong and it should not cost very much if any thing to do this

On my 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette, the air bag light occasionally comes on. What I found is that under the drivers seat, there are some electrical connections. Make sure all of those are tight. Make sure you have nothing under the drivers seat pushing on the cables.

I had a similar problem. Check your battery, it is probably on the verge of dying. My problem went away when the battery was replaced.
