The level sensor is inside the gas tank. A mechanic will need to drop the tank to work on it. Some cars can be done from above. In the meantime, find out how many mpg your car does and multiply it with the tank size. Fill your gas tank, reset your odometer. Keep an eye on the miles you drive and fill up before it reaches the max mileage.

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

The gas gauge reads empty and gas light is on even when gas tank is full

this problem is caused by a defective gas tank sending unit for the gage and the low fuel light, replace the sending unit.

Gas gage not working, gas tank seems full but it is not

You will need to remove the fuel tank from the truck and replace the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module that is inside the fuel tank. Use extreme caution when doing this as there is a real fire hazard.

Fuel guage pegs high at start then goes to empty

Jason, as far as the fuel gage, try a couple of resisters at the wiring for fuel gage sending unit, in gas tank. It's two wires, use the resister inline between the two wires. One resister is for low fuel level, the other for high fuel, If the gage reacts properly to both resisters, the problem is the sending unit in the gas tank. You can try 40 ohm and 250 ohm resistors. I used to get resistors from radio shack, I don't know if they went bankrupt? The store in my community closed. Other places may have resisters?
Just to add, the wire colors for sending unit/sensor are purple and black with white tracer.

Gas tank?

It sounds odd that both cars are experiencing the same problem. This usually indicates a problem with the gas tank not venting properly.

Gas Gage not working

your fuel pump/fuel gauge assembly are mounted in top of your gas tank probably when you overfilled it popped loose jamming your fuel gauge you will need to drop your tank down and check this (make sure you empty tank first if not its a heavy load )inspect fuel guage assembly for damage and probably just reinstall if not damaged good luck hope this helps you

Gas gage

It could be the fuel level sending unit is stuck or going out. It's in the gas tank.
