Where is the gear box cut off switch for a 97 ford explorer

There is not one fitted as standard equipment

The relay is under the hood in the power dist. box, the cut off switch is located in the side panel in the rear cargo area

you probably erased the proggramig instead of error codes. you need to get reproggramed by ford or get a new computer from a wrecker

sounds like the grear box cut off switch is faulty,,,,check this out first

The switch is below the glove box. There is a button on the top of the switch. Push the button to reset the switch. This information is also available in the 'Driving' section of your owners manual.

looki for the fuse box there should be a fuse or relay and check the switch is ok before replacing fan motor

does it stay in gear,when you manually shift it ? The electric 4x4 motor gets dirt and water inside the motor.if it works ok shifting it,try replacing the motor.

Standard transmission ? Sounds like you need a clutch or 1 of the hydralic pieces that control the clutch movement.
