3000 is plenty of RPM in most cases,Darlene. Have you had the codes read? don-ohio (:^)

    Had the same issue with my 2002 Mountaineer and my 2002 Explorer. Was a bad transmission. The engine can only put out so many rpms without it going somewhere.

Limited 3000 rpm

it may be stuck in the cold start mode which is a bit like turning you ac on and the motor runs faster.. you may have a stuck solenoid valve on the tbi unit..

2002 f250 low fuel at 1500 rpm

not to sure on model but could be injectors or the inbjector pump not fuel pump as this only send fuel to engine injector pump send fuel to injectors hope this helps

The first question for you is, What is the charging output for the altenator at idle?? If less than 12.3 volts, replace altenator. Typically, the altenator gets tested at 2500-3000 rpm on a bench tester. Your problem may be in the low rpm output range.

Low rpm's in idle when heating/cooling system is on & surges.

Check your EGR or your Idle control Valve. This can cause a problem with your irratic idling
