hi, let me give you some thoughts on your question. In todays comp.controlled hi elec. systems that make vech's. so powerful, milage,etc. when an elec. componet fails it can be a simple issue or a total engine shut down. the reason they have that feature is that is basicly your heart and soul of your vechicle. depending on what is failing in the ecm can make your vech. run bad, or not at all. hope that helps.

ECU is like your mother board and inside there is a PROM which is coded for your cars engine type and size etc. This prom keeps the systems as they should be like during warm up highway driving etc. Takes info from all the systems and makes fuel mixture, timing, and other adjustments to keep the car running correctly.Your prom needs replacing I think. This has to be done very carefully, Maybe best to take it to a shop.
