    disconnect battery negertive terminal
undo and remove the 10mm (spanner size) nut and disconnect the solenoid wire

undo and remove the 13mm (spanner size) nut and disconnect the main starter lead and the alternator wiring

undo and remove the 13mm (spanner size) bolt through the lower mounting point on the starter, this has an earth lead on it, push the lead to one side

undo the top starter bolt (same as lower bolt) and remove the starter from the engine. The top bolt can't be removed from the starter with it in place, and it can't be fitted after you've put the motor back either so don't forget it!

Ford transit starts intermittently.battery is fine.I have been told the starter motor may just need cleaning rather than replacing.Where abouts is it as I would like to do this myself. Thanks Mark.

you could do this your self but as you don't know the basic of where to look for it, servicing it your self will cost you more money than what it is worth
An accredited auto electrician is a better option to diagnose the fault as it most likely not the starter but a relay that is faulty

imjustavg_1.gifNo there is not a trick, just very tight. If you aren't using a socket set with an extention it is almost impossible to get the bolts out though.

Ford Transit Connect 2010. Broken rear door window (passenger side). need to remove windsheild wiper arm off threaded shaft. Does it pry off once nut and washer are removed? Should heat or solvent be used...

There is a special tool to push on the shaft of your wiper while pulling on the wiper arm itself. A way to get around this is to put the nut on loosely and pull up on the wiper arm while tapping on the nut with a hammer. BE CAREFULL NOT TO DAMAGE THE THREADS!

The best place to get a piece of glass would be to call an auto glass business in your area. They will deal with cutting the mastic (window adhesive), removing the old window and installing the new window.
When they get done, they will gaurantee that the window will not leak.
