SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Altima cuts off while driving.

Dear Tajack73: Nissan had a voluntary recall campaign on the 2002,2005,2006 Altima's with the 2.5 litre engines It envolves reprogramming the ECM.
The campaign ID # RD0712 NHTSA #: 07V-527
2005 Altima Vin's 1N4AL11**5C 100003-957025
1N4AL11**5N 400000-934180

The symptom you have described fits the one they have describe in the bulletin. Check with Nissan and see if your car falls within the campaign. Let men know how you do.

SOURCE: Idling low when stopped at a stop light. Almost stalls.

It certainly could be vacuum leaks. Check all your mounting bolts on the intake manifold, as well as all vacuum hoses. Make sure they aren't loose and are in good condition. Use a stethoscope, or a lenght of fuel hose held against your ear to listen for vacuum leaks while the engine is running. A hissing sound will be heard. Be sure and wiggle them if you can, while you're checking. A soapy water solution will also detect leaks.
It could also be the EGR valve leaking, or a plugged PCV valve. Or your timing belt could have jumped again. Let me know how you make out. Good luck!

05 Nissan Altima 4.2l replaced valve cover, gasket, and spark plugs looks fine with no leaks and engine runs fine, now I have lots of white smoke at start up which goes away once engine is warm.

White smoke indicates water going through your engine or condensation in your exhaust. If it is a lot of smoke you probably have a small leak in your head gasket that seals back up as the engine warms and the materials expand. It will get worse as time goes on. If it's just a little smoke that doesn't last long it's probably condensation in your exhaust, especially if it's cold outside. Condensation is caused by the air cooling down in your exhaust after you shut down the engine.

Hi, the gauges on my altima all stopped working then about a mile later the engine stopped as well but you can cut it off and it will start back it is a 2001

Sound like you are saying the RPM gauge dropped then a mile later the engine stalled and was able to restart you can be looking crank sensor beggining to fail and it usually fails on the freeway without warningcansmo_126.gif

The car stalls at times when you come to a stop

You have to have the Engine code and then star from that point. It could be MAF sensor problem or something else.
