2005 ford focus manifold get red hot and motor shaking

Pull out the spark plugs their is probably oil or water in the well surrounding plugs. Cheap eaasy fix for water just dry it out. oil? Replace valve cover gasket .

clean and re tighten the terminals

check the alternator and regulator are charging the battery

also depends on how old the battery is

if no better starter motor /soleniod sticking

check the ignition timing as it indicates as retarded

Right now look at the front of the engine behind the exhaust manifold and their are two breather pipes connected to a T connection that comes from the engine and check these pipes as if perished and split the engine will not idle .You cannot adjust anything without a dealer software to reset the mapping so check these pipes first and iam sure you will find their split and gone soft

This is the exhaust manifold it supposed to get hot you need to re- route your fuel lines

starter is located behind the motor under the intake manifold, to replace remove the battery cable & air filter box and remove 2 15mm bolts that go through the bell housing into the starter then get under the car and remove 4 10mm nuts & bolts that attach a plate from intake to the block then remove 1 more 15mm bolt holding starter in and pull it back then nose first down then remove 10mm and 13mm nuts on starter solonoid removing cable and wiggle it out past the half shaft and vualla its out

check the breather hose behind the manifold front right side of engine

maf sensor located between the air filter and air intake manifold

I HAD A FORD FOCUS AND THE PROBLEM WAS A MANIFOLD VACCUM LEAK AT THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS PCV VALVE TO INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS HOSE CAN GET SATURATED WITH OIL AND COLLAPSE AND TEAR CAUSING A NO IDLE AND SHAKING CONDITION. IF THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC IT WILL HAVE TROUBLE SHIFTING BECAUSE OF INCORRECT RPM SIGNAL TO TRANS. CONTROL. ALL IS DUE TO VACCUM LEAK. ONE WAY TO FIND LEAK IS TO USE A SOLUTION OF DISH DETERGENT AND WATER IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY AREA AROUND AND BELOW THROTTLE BODY BELOW AIR CLEANER ASSY. ALSO LOOK FOR HOSE THAT ATTACHES AT MANIFOLD BELOW THROTTLE BODY AND BRANCHES OFF TO PCV VALVE SHOULD BE A "T" GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Check for vacumn leaks. Replace coil. Check plug boots for oil or water on them. PCV hose from intake manifold will get soft and collapse. Replace motor mounts. The passanger side mount is a fluid filled mount.
