06 Suzuki Forenza make a loud clicking noise.

When I first start my 06 Suzuki Forenza it makes a loud clicking sound. When I press on the gas pedal it just gets louder until the car has been driven a while, then it stops. Also my engine malfunction light comes on occasionally and goes back off. When I went to the dealership I was told that I needed a drive belt, which I had replaced as well as a timing belt.

Sounds like it just needs a oil & filter change ?
check engine oil level!
smell it to see if its burnt
or is dirty [tarnished or black]
or gritty between your fingers?
it could be noisy tappets or lifters!
change your mechanic as its got absolutely nothing to do with the belts!
im truly amazed at the amount of rip offs in the auto industry in the US!
Cheers Rob.

Your car is from 2006 how come it needs a timing belt ( do you drive 20K per year? ). What is wrong with the drive belt. The sound from belt is not a clicking noise.
Any way try to avoid that dealer. What a baloney.

When you start the car, open the hood try to identify where the noise comes from.

1-If it comes from the top engine, open your oil cap, to see if oils splattered from mechanical movements. Usually oil is not enough then it takes time to travel to the cam shaft and the lifters that why after making noise a while then the engine becomes quite since it gets lubricated. How long have you been from last oil changed?

2-If it comes from the front engine try to identify if it comes from Power steering or AC. Check Power-steering fluid to see it it needs filled up. Check this before starting the engine.
Try to turn on AC to see if the noise more or less so you can determine the AC clutch is bad.

Hope you can find the source for a good fix.

When I start my 2004 suzuki forenza sometimes there is a loud squealing noise that will stop if I rev the engine. It doesn't sound like a belt to me sounds more mechanical. It also sometimes makes the...

Squealing noises are more apt to be from belts, not mechanical parts. It doesn't necessarily have to be "a belt" per se, as the noise could, in part, be caused by an idler pulley. Open the hood and try to locate the sound. FYI I have posted the complete 2004 Forenza Service manual on FIXYA. Do a site search with those key words.

What does "random misfire" diagnosis mean on 06 Suzuki Forenza?

From what you are sharing, it sounds like you may have worn piston rings. This could be why you had oil on the spark plugs. It might of been a problem which may have also reached your catalytic converter, where your O2 sensor is located. As for the noise you hear, are you able to determine where the noise is coming from ? Are there any bubbles inside the coolant reservoir ? If yes, you may have a cracked cylinder hear, blown head gasket or cracked block. You may need more specific troubleshooting to determine this.
If the noise is coming from the air filter box area, you may have bad intake valves. There are many possible issues which could cause your problem. Further diagnosis is required.
Random misfires mean that when your car is started, not all cylinders are firing at the proper time, this may be due to a bad / worn timing belt / chain. A bad cam or crankshaft sensor. There could be a few other individual problems.
Do you have any other codes other then O2 sensor in the engine control module ?

Would you say suzuki forenza 06 is a good car to buy?

They have been doing well and there problems are fewer than most. Sounds like you have a pretty good car. Have those trouble codes checked and repaired though so it does'nt cause problems down the road. Good luck.

Loud Knocking when pressing on gas pedal

What you are describing sounds like you have an engine bearing failing. Do not drive it 'till you have it diagnosed and repaired (most times though it's too late when you hear it.)..... Outside chance it could be the trans flex plate but I doubt it.
