I have a 2000 SAAB 93 convertible, indicators work but no indicator beep... also when roof is retracted a beep is meant to sound, this does not happen. Are they related problems? Is it the relay switch, if so, where is it located? thanks
Thanks for that. Do you know where the paseo alarm is located in the 2000 93 convertible. Regards GraemeThanks for that. Do you know where the paseo alarm is located in the 2000 93 convertible. Regards Graeme
I had this problem. The indicator unit is not conventional but electronic and the sound comes from a small speaker inside the SID unit. Utube has a few videos on how to remove the SID unit and its easy but taking it apart you will need a Torques male socket set. When you take it apart DO NOT REMOVE OR LOOSEN the screen or that will cause you great heartbreak. The speaker is readily available from radio shack or similar. If your screen is missing pixels you can replace it at this stage but get the kit from a speedo instrument company in UK (utube video) as their coupling system is the easiest for the SID but not the climate control. You will need a fairly high level of manual electronic skill to do these jobs. But it cheaper than a replacement SID unit but thats always another option.I had this problem. Remove the rear seats, remove the plastic cover on the lower part of the opening, remove the galvanised steel cover and lift it up from the front and under you will see a plastic hydraulic tank with a brass nut/screw, remove the brass nut screw and fill to the line with a good fluid, I used Lucas hydraulic (power steering) fluid which also has a stop leak (for seals only will not stop leaks in fittings) in it. Utube has a few videos on this opperation and thats where I go to Saab school.
Fold rear seat forward
Remove plastic cover (6 plastic clips)
Remove bolts (8or9) holding motor cover
Lift front of cover up (motor should be upright at this point)
There is a line on the white plastic reservoir that indicates when full
Use care to rute the lines when refitting the motor assembly
To check the oil level open the boot - at the very back remove the 4 plastic clips that hold the carpet in place. Slightly to the left of the center there are 2 holes - shine a light in the bottom and look through the top one to check the level.
To add oil - fold down the seat backrest. Remove the plastic trim - held on by 4 screws and 2 pop out plastic cllips.
Undo the 8 large bolts that hold the cover in place - 2 on top and 3 on front and back. Then lift up the cover from the front edge. You will then be able to get to the resevoir - you will need a funnel to poor fluid in.
Your tonneau motor is probably bad, though reprogramming the limits may fix it. You will need the factory tool, unfortunately. There is a lot of information on this webpage. Be sure to read the information relating to updates on 1995 models.
I managed to sort the problem, turns out there's a shear pin. I found this pin sitting in the bag in the back (the one the roof folds into) Now i just have to replace that and hopefully it should work
