Neutral safety switch diagrams for Isuzu Rodeo 4 wheel drive which wires must be shorted to start 2002 car if switch fails

The key lock cylinder operates the ignition switch sometimes ignition switch is separate sorry I didn't find where ignition switch is located if the lock cylinder is plugged into it.
You should have a starter relay and starter relay fuse.
This diagram of starter circuit shows the clutch pedal switch in the circuit on an automatic should have the neutral safety switch in the circuit. This is for 95 Rodeo.

If it's an automatic then the shifter is not going all the way into park to activate the neutral safety switch ( miss adjusted or worn bushing most likely) or possibly a bad safety switch.

In general, the neutral safety switch prevents the engine from starting without disengaging the clutch

If you have lights the battery is probably ok.
A mechanic would check for battery voltage at the starter with a meter or test light and then trace back to the key switch. You would have a neutral safety switch or clutch switch in the circuit to keep you from cranking the engine in gear.
If it is an automatic and you can crank it in neutral, the safety switch has failed.

Hello! I would only add the the wire colors, at the switch, are Violet and Yellow and will show shorted (correct operation) when in Park or Neutral for an automatic and Black/White and Black/Green for the Clutch Start switch for manual...Guru....Saailer

Look under the dash at the clutch pedal. Should be a switch or a button hidden under there near the top of the pedal. Pull the connector off and put a large paper clip in it, or a short piece of wire, and try the starter. If it doesn't work then check the starter fuse and relay. Just swap the starter relay out with something that you know works like the AC or Fuel pump and see if it starts. If all else fails then it could be the ignition switch itself.

if you can jiggle the shifter and it will start it sounds like your neutral safety switch. its located down there on the transmission or on the lever. you can bypass it by cutting the wires going into the switch and wiring them together. problem is it will start in gear then. the switch is either down on the transimission where the linkage goes into the tranny or in the console
