The electric drivers seat adjuster on my 1997 Lincoln Continental will not adjust up - just makes a rasping sound and won't move the seat up, only down. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your motor/gear might be worn. Does it go down while you are sitting on it or also when no weight is present ?

Testimonial: "I haven't checked when no weight is present. I'll try that also. Thanks for the tip."

@Seabee Mechanic - I checked the seat with no weight on it and it still won't go up and makes
    the "rasping" noise.Thanks anyway.

If you're mechanically inclined, remove seat assembly out of the car and begin to disassemble frame and check motor and gears. Remember to disconnect battery for when you disconnect harnesses under seat. Good luck and please keep us posted.

1995 Lincoln Continental, passenger seat won't tilt back forward

YOU HAVE A SWITCH OR A TILT ACTUATOR MOTOR PROBLEM. LINCOLNS HAVE 5 OR 6 ELECTRIC MOTORS MOUNTED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH FRONT SEAT WHICH REQUIRES REMOVING THE SEAT TO INSPECT .THEIR ARE ALSO CABLES ATTATCHED TO THESE MOTORS SO LISTEN WHEN YOU HIT THE TILT SWITCH DO YOU HEAR A MOTOR NOISE? IF YOU DO THEN YOU MAY HAVE A BAD CABLE.

1999 lincoln continental drivers power seat won't work

Could be any number of items related to the seat
power motor circuit

Start by removing & testing the switches

If modules are involved, then it will be beyond
your ability to diagnose ,without a trouble chart

Check any fuses that apply

If a fuse is blown,replacing it won't
likely fix the issue, only blow again

My 04 navigator left power seat wont move any direction and pedal adjust wont move...there is a clicking sound coming from a black box under seat but no function

it does not appear that the driver seat or adjustable pedal share anything in common

furthermore, the sound you hear clicking may be the actual seat motor trying to work, but lets do a quick test

try to move the seat up/down, forward/back and any combination. If while holding the button in said position and you consistently hear the clicking sound that follow the sound and touch the motor under your seat. If you feel the "clicking" then your seat motor is bound or siezed and will need repair.

if instead you just hear one click then you might be experiencing a relay problem

As for the pedal adjustment... have you checked fuse #109 (30A) @ the CJB (Central Junction Box) behind the right kick panel?

Lincoln Continental-1997 races in the idle mode.Air valve has been changed .Problem was reduced but still not normal..

There is some adjustment for base idle but you should go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free motor scan. If all of your sensors are okay then here is how you adjust the idle.

Behind the air ductwork is a metal part that is horn-shaped. On one side there is a part called the TPS, throttle position sensor. It has 2 screws and 1 electric plug. It connects with the Butterfly flap in the Airhorn.
There is a small slot on oneside and a hole for the other screw in the other side on the TPS. If you loosen the 2 screws you will get a small amount of play and slow the engine down by moving the TPS.

If there is not enough drop in RPM there is a set screw in the Airhorn casting on the opposite side from the TPS. The screw has no head, but usually has a hex fitting inside the Tip. It is hard to turn, but mighty on adjustment. If this is not enough adjustment you have a Manifold leak somewhere on the intake. Good Luck

Rear air ride suspension is not maintaining height

The are ride height adjusters the look like arms. they are mounted on the bottom of the struts and lower control arms that control the height The can be adjust but for the most part if the were working fine before then they need to be replaced. Make sure that there are no leaks in the system.
