Are you using the same power feed from the old radio? If so, your new radio may require a higher current fuse. Check the manufacturers information the came with the custom radio and make certain the current (amps) required is the same.
If the new radio has a higher power amplifier for increased audio, it will blow a low rated fuse.
On the other hand, it sounds as though you may have pinched the power feed wire in the radio bracket, trim cover or have it resting agaist a sharp bracket. So when you put the car in drive, the dash flexes enough to cause the short.
Does it blow the fuse when you shift to reverse?
let me know.

My 1998 neon keeps blowing the engine ignition feed fuse and i disconnected the aftermarket radio and still keeps popping the fuse what other possiblities could it be

Find the fuse/relay box and release it. Lift it up and inspect the wire harness under side. You will likely find the clutch cable wore through the insulation creating a short to ground. Repair bare wires and zip tie a piece of hose around the cable. This solved the problem on my 96.

1995 neon starter fuse keeps blowing and there is no short in the wiring

If you've verfied there is no short, the starter solenoid is drawing too much or has a partial short - replace the starter and see if the prob is cured. First make sure you're using the correct fuse.

1997 neon, fuel pump fuse keeps blowing

I had a neon that did this in my shop. I found one of the wires to the Oxygen sensors was melted near the exhaust and when you would give it gas the exhaust would flex and short out the o2 sensor.

Starter fuse keeps blowing

Sounds like a short in the system. you will need to inspect the wiring and posably, bench test the starter. Check the cables to the battery. Make sure the wires and the battery are in good shape.

Igniton fuse continuously blows on my 1995-96 dodge neon

Do you have an aftermarket stereo installed? Well, try this. Remove the ground cable from the battery. Install a new fuse. if it continues, Remove the center console. and check the reverse wire connected to the shifter. It did the same thing to me and all it was, was that wire was touching other wires

1998 Dodge Stratus

i think you have corroded wires around the fuel pump harness creating a short circuit which is probably blowing the fuse.

98 stratus won't start

Check the fuel shutoff valve. to see if it is on. press the reset button to do this. if it stays on. The answer could be pinched wires (a short) from the fuse wiring back towards the shutoff valve. if the valve shuts off try checking for current with a test light. if no current . The valve is bad. it seems like a short or open circuit on the fuel system wiring.
