The generic info for problems at higher rpms, check for a blockage of some kind, fuel--air--exhaust.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? It's not a tranny issue, correct?

SOURCE: 2000 pont. grand am dies at stops and low idle

I just got done with this same problem. Check a small looped vacuum hose just behind the mass air flow sensor which is attached to the air filter housing. the hose will be toward the plenom on the right side next to a blue connector. They have a tendency of getting soft.

SOURCE: dies out when i start it and wont go past 35mph

not sure but the 89 probably has a mechanical fuel pump and this is a symptom of one getting weak.

SOURCE: car is dying out at higher rpms it boggs down till it shifts. soumnds like gas issue to me

Hello! There are several reasons for the fault you describe...Since you did not mention the Check Engine Light being on the trouble isn't being picked up by the computer...The top two causes would be; #1...A clogged fuel filter and #2...A fault in the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS)... this sensor can have a defect that will not be picked up...If the fuel filter hasn't been changed in quite some time, replace it...If that does not clear the problem the TPS can be tested with a voltmeter before you buy another...I'll send the test procedure for the TPS (very easy to do) if needed...Guru..saailer

Ok I have a 89 chevy 1500, it start, runs, and go. When I hit the blinker signal, the battery volts drop, and when I come off the brakes and accelerate, the brake and battery light come on and 5 seconds...

It's either your battery or alternator have them tested. If your alternator is bad it wont charge the battery. If the battery is bad it won't hold the charge from the alternator. Good luck!

i would suggest replacing the catalytic converter. it might be plugged up and that could solve both your problems. if it demonstrates more going up hill the fuel pump might be going out

1997 chevy truck running rough

Is this a 5.7? They are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. When mine did it, the diagnostics blamed it on an ignition misfire also! Replaced the gaskets and it runs smooth!
