Firing order on a 1983. CHevy el camino v6 3.8

1969 Chevy 396 Firing Order







Different for an in-line straight 6 with a 250 engine: Firing order is 153624, # 1 is front cylinder, distributor rotates clockwise timing: 4BTDC auto trany TDC standard trany point gap is .019 point dwell is 31-34 according to an info provided elsewhere.

It can only be a faulty switch. See the two spade connectors here? Remove your connector and put two wires direct to the battery. If it stops and starts as normal when you make and break the connection, it proves it is the switch that is faulty.

the oil dipstick is located just below spark plug 6

The firing order is cast into the intake manifold

firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 rotation is clockwise

I beleive that would be the resistor pack that would need replacing.

It is usually near the fan.

check the wires for loose connection and the fuse or fusible link.

I have a 1983 Royal Knight SS. Had the same problem. Had my wiper motor and washer pump replaced. works like a dream now. replaced my original combination turn signal wiper switch on steering column and now have good working intermittent wipers.
