I believe that the pump motor is an encoder motor. If it does not stop when the top is fully closed, the encoder part of the motor is not operating and needs replaced.
Press down on your trunk, and have somebody release your trunk's release mechanism from inside your car simultaneously. These systems can become jammed but can sometimes be released if a gentle downward pressure is applied to your trunk while the mechanism is being activated. If this is the problem, apply some lubricant.
Clean the latch and the area where it connects to the chassis. If dirt or debris has become lodged here, it can stop the latch from connecting properly. It's a good idea to vacuum the area to ensure no small bits of gravel have become trapped and stopped the mechanism from securing properly.
Examine the latch and the area where it connects to the body of the car. Either of these might have become bent out of shape or damaged in some other way if the trunk has been shut with an obstruction in the way. If this is the case, contact your vehicle's manufacturer or a local garage to find a replacement if the elements cannot be repaired.
Check the latch mechanism, it may have accidentally already be in the closed or lock position. If it is, you will have to pry down on the latch tangs with a screw driver while pulling latch handle to the open position.
Latch could also be seized, in that case , use a thin oil liberally on latch mechanism, and work the mechanism open and shut closing and opening with screw driver and boot handle.
try a spray lubricant into the motor mechanism and grease any visable wire cables that run from/to motor ,not the electrical cables the bare wire winder cables, also grease/ lubricate any accessable pivot/hinge points , gently pull the cord and gently push the roof back and forth occasionally trying motor with a bit of patience this should get the roof moving , also look for anything that may be snagging the roof/mechanism as there is a pressure protection system to stop the roof being fully closed on say someones hand so preventing injury
No unfortunately you will need to look at replacement of the wind motor years ago manual winders were installed but no power option was available best solution replace your winder motor and resolve you issue.
Try a screw driver, and release the trunk release at the same time and unsnap the latch, the latch thinks it is closed, because the latch never opened back up to allow the striker to go in it and trigger the latch to close, the latch is in closed mode, you will have to manually unlatch the latch sort of speak.
Run the top so the decklid opens, and down inside the top stow area there is a ~3" square access door for manual operation of the pump. Make sure the valve is tight!
I have seen many many 2008s that were never tightened enough from the factory.
There should be latches you have to pull first to unlock the top from the windshield. Pull down the sun visors, the handles should be under them. Then push the power top switch.
