That would be your axle seals, have them replaced, that fluid is gear oil, also if the oil has gotten on any of the brake parts they must also be replaced, this includes parking brake system because if fluid got on the parking brake it will also be less effective.

2002 Silverado right rear wheel locking up.

You will need to have the parking brake adjusted to the minimum clearance possible and double check the shoes & drum while off.

It sounds as though the shoes are loose, they move forward, grab & unil you center the brakes by applying them and then they release until put into a bind again.

These usually don't get adjusted or even looked at since they are hidden inside the brake rotor hub on the rear wheels.

good luck.

Chevy silverado 1500 4 wheeldrive 2003

Raise the truck. Remove the wheel, brake caliper, caliper mounting and the dust cover in the center of the hub. Remove the ABS wiring, remove the large nut from the center of the hub. On the back side of the hub are 3 bolts, remove those and the hub should come off. Good Luck

2002 chevy 1500 4X4 pickup front wheel bearing assembly

Just to make sure they are a sealed hub and bearings...remove the brakes and rotor and on the back side of the hub there is four bolts remove them, remove outer nut on CV shaft, then pull hub from housing. clean hub seating area then reinstall.
Was thinking that's what i did on mine, just becareful when you place the ABS sensor back. line it up so you don't have to take the wheel back off. Good luck and hope this helps
