2004 avalanche it is stuck out of park

Check the shift linkage for proper operation and make sure any cables are properly anchored and adjusted.

If the torque converter has no fluid inside, it may not be able to supply the power the transmission needs to shift (I don't know the details of your particular transmission, but those I've worked on needed fluid to transmit power through the torque converter at low speed or not yet moving).

Is the ignition key going all the way to off, if it isn't then the key cylinder or the lock assembly may be the problem.

Time to have a total rebuild.

Well with the rotors on the rear you still have a drum with brake shoes in the middle for your E-Brake.Think you have to back off the parking brake nut at the equalizer(one cable into two) to get slack in the cable to back off the shoes inside.Well hope this helped and good luck.

Pull real hard, or put a pry bar behind the axle shaft and the park breaks and pry it out. The reluctor ring is rubber and it holds onto the axle good. You will not hurn anything by doing this. And when you put it back in just wack it in with a dead bow hammer .

i have a 2002 aavalanche and it wont shift to 3rd and 4th. some guy said that i had to rebuilt it but i think it could be somethisn else. what do you think?
