My 96 Jimmy is not a passlock security system. it is an aftermarket Viper. How do I disable this?

I was working on the brakes and the alarm went off and I could not shut it off or start the car.

You'll need to disconnect the wire harness and splice the original wires back together.

Cant star 1996 jimmy after security alarm goes off

Is it a factory security alarm or aftermarket? Are you disarming the alarm using the fob? What happens when you try to start the Jimmy after disarming the alarm - do you get only a flashing "Security" or "Theft" light, or do you just hear a loud click noise?

Resetting 1999 cavalier security system

If it's a factory alarm then you need to get it disabled by the dealer. if it's an installed alarm you need to unplug the brain/ module and your car should run

I have a 2002 yukon denali. Somehow my viper alarm needs reset. I cannot start the truck. When I replaced the car battery it was fine. Now when I press the buttons on my remote it does not do anything....

Your 2002 Denali is equipped with a security system from the manufacturer. The installation of aftermarket security systems such as the one you are describing is just trouble waiting for a place to happen.

General Motors has published several Technical Service bulletins regarding such aftermarket equipment and warns of the problems that can occur including No-Start conditions, trouble with the keyless entry system, engine misfire problems, transmission shifting problems and severe damage to high-dollar parts like catalytic converters.

My professional recommendation is to remove all of the aftermarket equipment from the vehicle and resore the vehicle wiring harnesses to a condition that would be acceptable to the people that built the vehicle.

How do you disable an alarm from a 96 chevy lumina van. the alarm came with the van from the dealership

if it is a stock gm alarm, it is integral to the body control module and cannot be disabled. if it is an aftermarket, it depends entirely on how it was installed and what kind of system it is.

It sounds like your starter Kill switch is engaging. If you have an after market alarm installed cut the power to that by removing the in line fuse or cutting the power wire. If the alarm was part of the vehicle, which sounds possible based on your post, you can try resetting the ECM by removing the Negative battery terminal for 1 min then reconnecting. There should also be a fuse for the alarm in your fuse panel. If you remove that it should disable the kill switch.

I have an aftermarket Ford remote start on my 2005 Ford Sport Trac. I tried to start with my truck with the key in the ignition, I would hear clicks and then the alarm would go off. I have tried to reset...

First thing is to identify the alarm system, I.E.- who made it and what model it is? (like Viper, Automate, etc...)
Contact the aftermarket alarm manufacturer or the person that installed the alarm (if you had/know who installed the alarm system). Most major system have a phone number and a list of qualified installers for their systems. They will be able to direct you to a shop that can service the system. If your vehicle won't start, you may have to have it towed to the location to diagnose and correct the problem.
