Can i set my headlights so they don't automatically come on in my 2005 buick rendezvous

For such a detailed task, you will need a set of screw drivers and gloves . Typically, you work from within the car to remove/unscrew covers from the back of the light and then you switch of the parts.

Please have a mobile mechanic on call if you are not able to properly replace the light.

Check the fuse box on the right (passenger) side of the center console. You should be able to identify which fuse it is by checking in the owner's manual.

What about if you wait a few minutes...do they go off then

there is a resister next to the blower motor pull it out and look for burned spots and over heated connectors

Most probably some ignition cable to the spark plugs.

here is a pic of the thermostat housing in case you dont know what it looks like. its a very easy part to change although sometimes they are hard to get to. just make sure you do not put the thermostat in backwards the coil on the thermostat should go towards the hot side (coolant coming from the engine)

To replace the bulb, you remove several NON adjusting bolts and the entire headlight assembly comes out, for access to the bulb(s) at the back.

There is a photocell sensor on the top of the dashboard. Is it possibly covered with a map etc.This would fool the system to thinki ts dark outside. If not,the twilight sentinel amplifier and photocell will require diagnosis. Hope this helps

If it has an automatic transmission it isnt the best thing to do.The transmission pump wont suply lube to parts that need it and stand a real good chace of causeing damage due to the lack of lubrication.
