You could be dealing with an array of parts that all work in unison. This could start from your battery to your starter, to your distributor components, It could be a Crank Position Sensor, It could be an o2 (oxygen) sensor, and more. Turn off radio, hold down time button for a few seconds, and the hour will start to flash. Push tuner knob to switch to minutes. Push tuner knob again to finalize.
Check your PCM a very common issue among Durangos See if there is any type of error code in the odometer. If 'no bus' is shown it is your PCM the main computer and your looking at about $500-$800 to replace it. to get it started try unhooking the battery cable for a few minutes and then hooking it back up
Clock Setting Procedure
1. Press and hold the time button until the hours blink.
2. Adjust the hours by turning the right side Tune /
Audio control.
3. After the hours are adjusted, press the right side Tune /
Audio control to set the minutes.
4. Adjust the minutes using the right side Tune / Audio
control.

if this is a 4.7l engine, the valve is on the left rear of the intake. loosen the 8mm bolts that hold the egr intake tube to the egr valve, remove the egr bolts, disconnect wiring, remove valve and tube together, attach intake tube loosely to new valve, install new valve, tighten tube bolts to egr using a swivel socket, this is not a 5 minute job, so dont attempt unless you have some time and patience.
I had a similar problem with 99 Durango.
Replaced PCM with refurbished "brain" from online Florida company and no problems since. You may want to google for refurbished PCM and call the guys who sell them -- they were helpful to me and my fix was 3 screws and < $300.00.
