How to Change a Headlight on a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette?

You must replace the entire headlight assembly, the lens are not removable.

Remove it from the bottom, thru the wheel well like a buick century. disconnect the battery first thing.

hard job. it can be done with some special tools and know how. You may be better to pay a shop to replace it. Make sure its bad.

Check for a rubber piece (seal), that goes between the headlight housing and the socket. It may be missing, broken or installed incorrectly. Check the pasenger side to see the rubber seal. I piece is in place, check socket's (2) locking tabs and headlight housing, some times one breaks and no water tight seal is achieved.

best why to change at home is go get a whats called kwik strut from part sourse. comes with spring and strut already complet. if you dont have a good spring compresser you can kill your sell takin them apart.

You need to pull the entire assembly, no fear, it is meant to be done that way... Then you can easily change the headlight...

There are two "wing nuts" securing the entire plastic headlight assembly. One is mounted at the top-inboard(towards engine), And the other is outboard of the assembly. There is also one more plastic wing nut that hold the side marker light assembly Once these three wingnuts are removed, carefully remove the whole assembly. The headlight bulb is contained in the socket... one quarter turn counter-clockwise will remove the socket from the housing.

Remove the two 30mm Torx screws, then pull straight back (towards the rear of the vehicle) on the tail lamps. Unplug the wiring harness.

The first thing i would check is all 4 abs sensors at the wheels.You can do this with a volt meter set on ac voltage and spin the wheel if it generates voltage at all on the meter its good.
