P0442 is a medium evaporative system leak detected. Check your gas cap and make sure it is on tight and the rubber seal is in good shape. If it was loose, tighten it and the check engine light will exstinguish after a few days on its own. If not this usually means there is a small hose in the system that has developed a small split. It could be several other things as well, it is "usually" a hose. You need to take it to a shop that can proform diagnostics to locate the leak.
Here is a list of possable causes;
POSSIBLE CAUSES
LEAK AT GAS CAP
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID OPERATION
INTERMITTENT LDP MONITOR FAILURE
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION LEAK DETECTION
GAS CAP
LDP COMPONENT LEAK

Small vacuum leak to start in evap system, which can quite often be traced back to gas cap. I'd clean gas cap seal good & add a little Vaseline, to the rubber "O" ring on cap, and wipe surface where cap screws in real good & clean, then have codes erased, or disconnect battery for a few seconds, and then see if it comes back. Make sure you put cap on tight after adding fuel.

I do not know why the mechanic would suggest the SRS warning light relates to the traction control because it has absolutely nothing to do with the TC system.
SRS means "Supplementary Restraint System" - ie, the vehicles airbag system. If the warning light comes on the system has recognised that there is a fault with the airbag system which could mean it would not deploy as designed in the case of an accident. The causes of the warning light can be numerous including a failed sensor, a problem in the wiring or physical interference with the wiring, one of the electrical plug connections coming loose or being disconnected, a problem with the seat belt pretensioners etc etc.
You should take the vehicle to a dealer to have the problem properly diagnosed, rectified and the computer reset.
Normally the warning light will continue to display every time you start driving the vehicle until the cause of the problem is identified and the issue is fixed.
The airbag system is an important safety feature designed to eliminate or reduce injury in the case of an accident. Manufacturers do not include warning systems like this to annoy owners. Just ignoring the warning and looking for ways to just remove the warning would be irresponsible, especially if you are using the vehicle to also carry passengers.

actually there is a magnet. Its right behind the cam sensor. Had to replace it myself. just make sure you get the sensor from the dealer as well. You wont find the magnet anywhere but the dealer so you mine as well buy both at once.
