SOURCE: 2005 Aveo; hold light blinking, check engine light
Try a toon-up..
Or might be a sensor.. There are several..
Trying to figure these things out is a process of elimination.. Unless looked at by a shop..
Hope this helps !!
rate me good ;o)

check tps sensor (throttle position sensor in backside of the throttle cable) and map sensor (manifold absolute pressure on front little 1 inch sensor with vacuum line) make sure there plugged in. the ecm (engine control module driver side inner fender) and tcm (transmission control module under dash) both need the data to know when to upshift and increase fuel/air. Otherwise the computer runs default values and guesses off of other sensors giving poor performance. also disconnect battery for 15 min. usually resets aveo service lights if you dont have a scanner.
SOURCE: 2009 Aveo 5 how do you reset the change oil
Try with key on, press gas pedal to the floor three times then turn key off & back on. This should reset it.

their two wires two the light please test them with a test light the black one should be the ground .remove the bulb test the power side to the negative battery post . then test the ground side to the positive of the battery. you should get a good test light on both . then plug the bulb back in put tester on the ground side of the bulb receptacle and clamp the tester to the negative post of the battery if you get the tester flashing the ground is poor and will need to be cleaned you can trace the wire to its ground point take off the bolt and sand it with sand paper.

is your hood popped or loose? open the hood and look at the latch to see if its broken or if its not closing the whole way when you close the hood. if everything looks good try adjusting the hieght of the bumpers which the hood sits on. don't go crazy with adjusting the bumpers.
What the problem probably is tho is a bad hood sensor. its a little button that is pressed when the hood is closed. they can go bad if someone spills fluid or they get loose. you can try to replace it then if you can see it (might need to remove some plastic)mbut i would just take it to a local shop. as long as it does close the whole way and you don't physically see the hood bouncing in the wind or open, its safe to drive.
