Toyota avanza 1.5 disharging water through the radiator resevoir when idling.

Might have a bad thermostat. Sounds like the coolant isn't being circulated through motor.
tip

How to keep your car below boiling poimt. ALL CARS!!!

most times in the heat your cars cooling system can over load, to stop overheating, always check your vehicles radiator water never the overflow resevoir.

always make sure your top radiator hose is hot, when running and your thermo fans come on automatically when on average heat temp. (half way).

make sure you cannot hear any noises ( clunking, grinding etc) from the waterpump, and always make sure you dont see water leaking from the vehicle ( except when air con is on).

if you do spring a leak always get it repaired ASAP as delay may further damge your cooling system, eg, head gasket and or head, effects may be warped, bent or cracked cylinder head.

always check your radiator and top up if needed at least ONCE A WEEK to avoid damage. and keep your overflow resevoir kept on the correct level.

cooling system failure can produce a big effect on your engines running capability and also your wallet!!!!!

keep your car cool in the heat!!

and also note, coolant or anti freeze does not keep your car cool, it is a corrosion inhibitor and only prevents corrosion and muck in and around your cooling system, your thermo fans keep your car cool!!!!

Hi My freelander has got pressure from the water resevoir. I still have heating inside car, gauge stays normal.fans working normal.seems to loose water out of resevoir. had new head gasket, thermostat and...

The cap that holds pressure inside the cooling system -- whether located on the plastic water reservoir or the radiator -- could be bad, even if it looks OK. Buy a cheap replacement online.
Also look for cracks in the rubber overflow line from the radiator to the reservoir -- they often go bad.
If the main water hoses between the engine and radiator haven't been changed, replace them (even if they look good). Many times, when old hoses are removed, they start leaking when they're replaced because the stiff rubber doesn't seal properly -- and your radiator hoses were probably removed when they changed out the water pump.
Also,
--search online forums for your year/model to see if others have same problem.
--if all else fails, drive the car until the engine is good and hot, support the front of the car with jack stands or wheel ramps (NEVER only with a jack), turn on the engine and let it idle. As pressure builds, if there's a leak you should be able to see it dripping. (Don't confuse, though, with condensate dripping from the a/c condenser, which is normal.)

I have oil in my coolant resevoir

Hmm try changing the oil, flush and fill the radiator. Then see if the contaminant comes back into the resevoir. If you have a cracked, block/head or a blown head gasket the envoy would have white or blue exhaust coming out and would be overheating since oil retains heat. Some other tell tale signs are little steam will come out of your oil filler when u open it.Your oil looks like chocolate milk instead of regular oil when u check it. Try a compression or a leak-down test to find out if your head gasket is blown. Pull the spark plugs see how they look.

(Contaminated water from rust or mineral? dont use tap water when mixing with the anti freeze)

Hope all this helps you

Car is overheating after short drive (3/4 hour) had thermostat changed, put new coolant in radiator. radiator was pressure tested no leaks? car ok short drive to store. resevoir seems always overfilled...

The expansion tank will be more full when hot. Let it cool down and check it then. The level in the axpansion tank should go lower. If not then you may have a faulty radiator cap.
Also have you checked the cooling fan? Engine driven? With the engine off, spin the blade. Does it spin real freely? Continue to spin for more than a quick second? May have a bad fan clutch. They have fluid inside and the fluid can leak out of the seals after age.

Finishing water from the resevoir after every 20 km or the water is usually dripping from the resevoir when i stop.golf 4 2000 model

Hi,
Looks like your radiator cap is broken, check if the seal and the spring is still okay.
Water that is not coming back to your radiator means, your cap's seal is loose or chipped off.
Check that first and tell us what happen, give us the temperature of your engine too, thus your engine overheats constantly?
Hope that helps you!
Thanks for using Fixya!

I have an 1997 isuzu trooper that is overheating, have had water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, allmost everything to do with the water system replaced, except the radiator...there is no water leaks that...

Radiator can't handle the load.. Just make sure the fans are pulling air... One way to see if the radiator is at fault is to try turning the heater on high... If the temps stay cooler the radiator has had it. Turning the heater on in emergency is good to know so I hope this helps.

Wish the best with the chemo... will be praying for her.

Heated coolant being lost at resevoir

How much are you loosing? If its just a little that could be from nothing more than expansion. If you are loosing a lot that could be either from overheating (steam) which would suggest the water isn't circulating and cooling or from a head gasket leak causing air to be injected into the water jacket and displacing the water.

Are you getting any oil in the water? foam? does the water appear to be milky?
Not finding what you are looking for?
