SOURCE: I want to tow a kia sportage can I use a tow dolly

If you have a four wheel drive Sportage, you will destroy your transmission by towing the vehicle with the rear wheels on the road and the engine not running. The problem is that the wheels will spin the transmission, causing wear on it since there is no transmission oil flowing while the vehicle engine is not running. You can, however, remove the rear driveshaft from the Sportage and that will allow you to safely use a tow dolly, since the rear wheels will be free spinning.

SOURCE: how do you tow a

The only way to tow this vehicle is on a flat-bed.

Testimonial: "I had this confirmed with a jeep dealer...but with more detail (such as my need to disengage the rear drive shaft if I were to use a tow dolly). "

Can I flat tow my 2006 Kia Sportage which is automatic transmission with option to push button for Manuel transmission

No you cannot flat tow the sportage for multiple reasons. Alot of times you can avoid ruining your automatic transmission by removing the driveline but this vehicle is a front wheel drive so you cannot do that. The kia sportage must be towed on a trailer or possibly a car dolly.

Can a 2006 saturn VUE 4cyl, 2.2l front wheel drive be flat towed?

if it is an automatic transmission it will need to towed with the front wheels off the ground
Short distance towing with any automatic transmission is ok but it has to be remembered that the gears/bearings will be without lubricating oil
the user manual for all automatic cars states to remove the drive shaft before towing and as that is impracticable with a front wheel drive car , best to tow with the wheels of the ground
consider putting it on a car trailer behind you MH as an alternative operation

Need to tow a 1993 S10 Blazer w/ electronic 2/4 WD control - NO battery - with low/no trans fluid. Will the vehicle be in true neutral without battery or will the trans get rotation and risk of seizing?

yes being elctronic no power = 2wd But if your putting on a wrecker or dolly rear tires need to be off ground and there no need to put tranny in neutral
in case of towing with rear tires on ground drive shaft needs to be removed because even in neutral gears in tranny will still turn but there be no oil circulating
This is true for all cars and trucks 2wd or 4wd
but on front wheel drive it front wheels u need to worry about

Can I tow a 2000 Nissan Altima front wheel drive manual transmition with my RV?

Yes but I would use a dolly to do it. The problem is the possibility of the car dropping into gear. Also it is not recommended that you tow a Front wheel drive vehicle with the wheels on the ground. You could damage the transmission. U-Haul and a Number of other rental locations rent a Wheel hopper dolly. This puts the 2 front wheels on the dolly to be towed. It is relatively cheap and will save you damage to the vehicle.
