Locked out, 2007 Nissan Versa. Roadside Assistance came out when he unlocked the door, my drivers side handle just broke off in the techs hand. My car has a 137K miles on it, could it just be worn out

The body control module is responsible for controlling various electrical functions in a vehicle, including door locks. Removing the 50-amp fuse could have caused the module to reset, which may have resulted in the driver side door becoming locked.
To resolve the issue, try the following steps:

1. Turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition.
2. Close all doors, including the driver side door.
3. Lock the vehicle using the key or remote.
4. Wait for a few seconds, then unlock the vehicle using the key or remote.
5. Check if the driver side door is unlocked. If not, try using the key or remote to lock and unlock the door again.

How to adjust door locks and locate the central locking button. NOTE: If your vehicle is equipped with Comfort Access you can unlock all doors by grabbing the front passenger door handle regardless if you have "Driver's Door" as your setting. Also, some vehicles have Comfort Access sensors integrated into all door handles(i.e. X5) while some will only have the front passenger doors (i.e. 3 series)

You will almost definitely have to remove the inner door trim etc to access the rods etc that work the lock.

For a permanent fix, you'll have to take the door panel apart, drill a hole through the handle and the big plastic door mechanism inside, and then insert a cotter pin. I found out how to do so via a nicoclub.com forum, but the critical photos of the operation seem no longer to be available there.

Otherwise, get a coat hanger and insert it carefully between the front & rear windows and try to activate the unlock button in the car. It will set off the alarm, but you can turn it off after you get keys from trunk. Hit the trunk release inside the car.

do you have aaa roadside assistance? they can unlock your car.a towing company can unlock it also. or you can try using a metal coat hanger and going in by prying the door open enough to get the hanger through. some parts stores sell lock out kits that have tools and instructions to unlock cars and trucks. if your car has door air bags,do not attempt this because they can go off.most luxury vehicles only have the side door airbags though.if you have a cell phone some phones come with roadside assistance that could help you.a typical roadside assistance for an unlock service is about $30.00 if you have towing insurance of anykind should be able to assist you. good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com

open the front door...
now you have to push the locking rod towards the rear so you can open the sliding door from the inside
just follow the B pillar down and use the passenger side as reference of that black rod
