When the BCM was installed, did you have it programmed to match the vehicle?

  • robert shumate
    robert shumate Sep 21, 2016

    yes it was programed

  • Brad Brown Sep 21, 2016

There are several issues that can be causing this problem. Some of those cars have had issues with bad connectors at the BCM. They get corrosion and loose contacts. The unit is very sensitive to voltages and low battery voltage low alternator output can cause problems. Check all the cables and connections.

2005 chevy impala car alarm fuse

What about it ? Need more details .
Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Description and Operation
The CTD system (when armed) is designed to deter vehicle content theft by pulsing the horns and exterior lamps for approximately 2 minutes when an unauthorized vehicle entry is detected. However, the CTD system does not affect engine starting.
An unauthorized entry can be any of the following with the CTD system armed:
• Forced entry into the passenger compartment.
• When any door is opened without being unlocked by using the key to unlock either of the front doors or the UNLOCK command from a Keyless Entry Transmitter.
• Forced entry into the rear compartment.
The components of the system are:
• Keyless Entry Module (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver)
• Door Ajar Switches
• Body Control Module
• Front Door Lock Cylinder Switches
• Power Door Lock Switches

The CTD system is an internal function of the Body Control Module (BCM) which utilizes class 2 serial data and various switch input information to perform CTD functions. When the BCM detects an unauthorized entry, it activates the horns and exterior lamps. The BCM has five basic modes (disarmed, standby, delayed, armed, and alarm) for operating the CTD system. The different modes are described below.
The BCM has the CTD system in a disarmed mode until the following conditions are detected:
• Ignition key turned to the OFF position.
• Any door open.
• Doors locked by either the power door lock switch or the LOCK button on the transmitter.
The BCM enters the standby mode when the above conditions are detected. In standby mode, the BCM commands the SECURITY indicator to flash. If all the doors are closed and the LOCK button on the transmitter is used, the BCM enters the delayed mode.
When the last door is closed, the BCM enters the delayed mode for 30 seconds. In delayed mode the BCM commands the SECURITY indicator to illuminate ON steady.
After 30 seconds, the BCM enters the armed mode. Any forced entry activates the alarm mode.
When the BCM detects a forced entry, the BCM enters the alarm mode. The BCM activates the horns and exterior lamps for 2minutes. This is followed by a three minute time-out with the horn no longer active. If no new intrusions are detected after the time-out, the horn is not active. The system must be disarmed or the intrusion condition removed after the time-out for the system to exit alarm mode .
There are no fuse's for the alarm , there are main power feeds to the BCM .

on my car, i have most themn turned off, like the lamp flashings.
and the horn chirp is off on all my cars, all i get is the door lock click sounds, nice (neighbor friendly)
so turn all all that and see if the horn still fails.

that panic button can fail,
if mind did id pull the fob battery and then use FOB 2.

If I lock my 2006 Chevy Cobalt, the security system will randomly lock and unlock the doors accompanied with the horn honking

I think you have a BCM - body control module problem ! The BCM controls the automatic door locks .
Automatic Door Lock Operation
This BCM controlled feature can be personalized to driver preference. Refer to Power Door Systems Connector End Views Personalization Description and Operation in Personalization.
The BCM will automatically lock the vehicle doors if the following conditions exist:
?€¢
All vehicles doors are closed.

?€¢
The ignition is in the ON position.

?€¢
The vehicle is shifted out of PARK.

The BCM will then unlock the doors when the ignition is placed in the OFF position. Do the exterior lights flash as well as the horn sounding ?
Body Control Module (BCM)
The
Content Theft Deterrent
system is an internal function of the Body Control Module (BCM) which utilizes class 2 serial data and various switch input information to perform CTD functions. When the BCM detects an unauthorized entry, it activates the horns and exterior lamps.
When the BCM detects an unauthorized entry, the BCM enters the alarm mode. The BCM activates the horns and exterior lamps for 2 minutes. This is followed by a 3 minute time-out with the horn no longer active. If no new intrusions are detected after the time-out, the horn is not active. The system must be disarmed or the intrusion condition removed after the time-out for the system to exit alarm mode.

What could be the problem

Sounds like you have a problem with the BCM. Almost all manufacturers put all controls now through the BCM, its a really convenient way to get a lot of cash out of you, since any single item in the BCM that goes require the entire BCM to be replaced.

Which fuse is the one for the door locks

The 2005 Dodge Caravans have software problem in the BCM that causes the power locks to quit working. The only fix is to bring the van to a dealer for a software flash update.Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_fuse_located_for_power_door_locks_on_a_2005_Dodge_Grand_Caravan #ixzz271oz6ROB

disconnect the battery cable and pull the BCM fuse and do system reset and the door locks may work fine again.

also ro try to get the power door locks working. pull and reinstall (but not replace) all fuses and fuse blocks (but not the relays). The locks may start working after that.

disconnecting and reconnecting the lamp and horn relays may fix same issue with the locks.
Several people suggested resetting the fuses under the hood, and it worked. Others tried unplugging and plugging back in the battery and that also worked for them.
