SOURCE: how to change fuel pump

there are 2 straps that hold the tank up in place by 2 bolts.when you remove those it will allow the tank to drop down so far.you have to take the fuel lines loose when the tank is part way down and the wiring harness and the the clamp that goes to the filler tube to the gas tank. once thats all done and you have the tank off the car there will be a large O ring you have to turn on the pump assy to get the old pump out and put the new one in. it goes back together the same way you take it apart only in reverse. its not hard to do just time consuming. you will want to put a jack under the tank to help lower it to the ground and then to help raise it back up to bolt it back in place.

SOURCE: replace water pump cost

the time to replace is 3.8 hours. multiply this by the shop flat rate and this will give you a labor rate. call some local parts houses to find the price on the pump, dodge gets around 98dollars hope this helps, depending on when you last changed the timing belt you ight want consider doing this at this time as it has to come off to change the water pump. this is an interference engige if the belt breaks it will damage the valves, you should only have to pay for the belt. hope this helps if not ghet back tome and i'll try to help you further. please rate my fix, as i strive to the best Thanks Ray

Dodge dosen't use reset switches on the fuel pump circuit. The only company I know of that does is Ford and Ford companies like Mazda and Jag.

Where is the Fuel Filter on a 1996 Dodge Stratus? It really needs to be changed and I don't see it underneath the vehicle.

I believe that is the one that is part of the fuel pump in the tank. they are made at such high capacity that the fuel pump will fail before it ever clogs. If you have running problems--it is either a failed fuel pump or something else altogether
