SOURCE: change spark plugs 2001 4 cyl hyundai sonata

You change One spark plug, and One wire at a time. Do you know where your timing belt is? If not, its on either the right or left side of the engine. There is a covor to the timing belt. You take the First plug that is closest to that belt. Then you work your way to the next closest all the way to the last one. Remember, you have to do ONE at a time.

SOURCE: 2006 Hyundai Sonata: Wet road causes power steering failure

Ok, the high pitch sound is your idle pulley bearings going bad. The splash of water is exactly that, the belt gets wet and slips. Definitely a pully, more than likely the idler pully.

Hyundai 2001 sonata power steering fluid leak

The power steering fluid (which is the same color as the auto transmissioin fluid)...can come from 1 of 4 places, the power steering reservoir, power steering pump, power steering rack, or the connection lines........

Where it is coming from will depend whereabouts it is leaking, if it is more towards the front of the car (engine), power steering poump would be the likely option.......however if it is more under the driver/passenger area under the car, this would be more likely be the rack...

I would suggest washing the vehilce down with high pressure wash, inlcuding underbody and engine area......let dry, take for a drive (15-20 minutes), then leaving on reasonably clean driveway/roadway...and see where it is leaking from...what area...then get a torch and trace to where it maybe coming from

Will not move in rverse

Hyundai Sonata transmissions were much less than reliable. In most cases, the symptoms you describe are caused by an internal transmission failure that will require an overhaul or replacement. To be sure, however, you should check the shift cable and the adjustment and operation of the inhibitor switch. If that's good, you can pretty much draw the conclusion that you're looking at expensive repairs.

Cost will vary greatly by geographic location and the shop where you have the vehicle repaired. You'd be best served by calling a few places to see what they'd charge to overhaul or replace the transmission with one that's already been remanufactured. Be sure to call your local Hyundai dealer also. Hyundai prices their remanufactured transmissions very competetively, so many dealers sell them for less than Hyundai's list price.

I hope helps with this; keep us updated (remember to rate this).
