Hello everyone! i need some help here. i have a 2002 dodge grand caravan 3.3 that is stuck in limp mode. here is the back story on it: in the winter the van went dead, it was jump started with less than perfect jumpers and sparked a bit. ever since then the dash lights didnt work. a few days ago i decided to look into the issue and found a 40amp BCM #2 fuse was bad. i went to the local store picked one up and as soon as i put it in it blew. frusterated on spending $5 on a fuse for it to blow right away i and dont ask me why took a wire and connected the contacts.. well the wipers went nutty and sparks flew. so after doing that i figured i did some dammage. went into the van started it up and drove it. the van wont shift at this point and the shift indicator is all lit up...LIMP MODE.... so i went out and picked up a used TPIM and replaced that and the dash lights now work but its still stuck in limp mode. also after replacing the tipm i can no longer scan the TCM.. so with that said where do i go from here... the battery is junk so thats going to be #1 after that not a clue.. HELP
Well you either have a shorted component or a shorted wiring harness. Buy a factory wiring diagram booklet and follow the circuit, start disconnecting components in the system until the short goes away. If everything that the fuse powers is disconnected and the fuse still blows then you have a shorted wiring harness, look for areas where there is allot of movement or heat from the engine exhaust. You can try this site for a wiring diagram, it may have one. http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
