2002 dodge transmission stuck in limp mode

Hello everyone! i need some help here. i have a 2002 dodge grand caravan 3.3 that is stuck in limp mode. here is the back story on it: in the winter the van went dead, it was jump started with less than perfect jumpers and sparked a bit. ever since then the dash lights didnt work. a few days ago i decided to look into the issue and found a 40amp BCM #2 fuse was bad. i went to the local store picked one up and as soon as i put it in it blew. frusterated on spending $5 on a fuse for it to blow right away i and dont ask me why took a wire and connected the contacts.. well the wipers went nutty and sparks flew. so after doing that i figured i did some dammage. went into the van started it up and drove it. the van wont shift at this point and the shift indicator is all lit up...LIMP MODE.... so i went out and picked up a used TPIM and replaced that and the dash lights now work but its still stuck in limp mode. also after replacing the tipm i can no longer scan the TCM.. so with that said where do i go from here... the battery is junk so thats going to be #1 after that not a clue.. HELP

Well you either have a shorted component or a shorted wiring harness. Buy a factory wiring diagram booklet and follow the circuit, start disconnecting components in the system until the short goes away. If everything that the fuse powers is disconnected and the fuse still blows then you have a shorted wiring harness, look for areas where there is allot of movement or heat from the engine exhaust. You can try this site for a wiring diagram, it may have one. http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html

I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport it is in limp mode. I have replaced the TCM, Speed sensors (3 times), and checked the ground strap. Once they replaced the last speed sensor seemed worse actually....

you don`t say if you ever had codes pulled from the tcm or if you installed a new tcm and not a used one.if a used one you may have a bad one.also you may have to have the tcm programed to your vehicle.if in limp in mode there possibly a problem internal to the transmission.you need to have it checked out a tranny shop that you trust or is recomended by several people.

My dodge caravan 3.3L shows 5 malfunction codes what do they mean po455 po846 po500 po700 po732

P0455 = Evap leak monitor large leak detected.
This code usually means the gas cap may have been loose or needs the rubber gasket.

P0500 = No vehicle speed sensor signal.
Vehicle speed sensor is located on the transmission near one of the axle shafts (it may need replacing).

P0700 = EATX controller DTC present.
This simply means you have transmission related codes.

P0732 = Gear ratio error in 2nd gear.
This code is of some concern, it means the transmission is slipping in 2nd gear. However the trans may be in limp mode due to the speed sensor code (limp mode means the trans starts out in second gear in order to at least get to a mechanic). The first thing I would do is have these codes cleared as there may be absolutely nothing wrong with the transmission (especially if you pull the trans dip stick and the fluid does not have a burnt smell. The vehicle should drive normally after that. If the check engine light comes back, have the codes scanned ASAP (before any other unrelated code sets). Chances are it may be the output speed sensor if this happens (easy fix). Hope this helps

Would like to know what the process is to reset the TCM on a 2002 dodge grand caravan, the van while driving it stays stuck in 2nd gear was told that the TCM needs to be rest i need th precdure how to rest...

if its stay in second speed the computer put the tramission in limp mode because there a problem in the trasmission you need to get your van pass on a scanner to see the code it could simply be the input or output sensor there sensor on the transmission and to reset that simply disconnect the battery for 2 minute after you see your trams will change all speed let me no and thanks for using fixya

2002 Dodge Caravan stuck in Limp Mode. Changed input speed sensor, TCM and relays. Help me

Change the output speed sensor as well and clear the vehicle codes either via a scanner or disconnecting the battery. Also make sure the transmission is at the proper fluid level.

2001 Dodge grand caravan sport. Transmission slipping/ jerking. Seems to run only in second gear... still slips and jerks. Smells of burnt trans fluid and the level is low on the dipstick.

I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.

I have 2002 doge caravan and transmission stock in 2 gear

This is a issue which arises in Dodge cars when the car experiences a Failure of the Speed Sensor. When a Car experiences a Speed Sensor Failure then the Car goes into a Limp mode in which the Car gets stuck in the Second Gear. Sometimes this issue is accompanied with Check Engine Light. Please consult a Mechanic to check the Speed Sensor.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

Transmission stuck in 2nd gear on a 2001 dodge grand sport flex fuel .Replaced it with another transmission thought that would take care of the problem but the same thing happened with the second...

Have you checked for trouble codes? Trans. stuck in 2nd gear is 'limp mode' when there is a problem, which could be a bad sensor. Scan for any stored codes 1st to get some clues as to what is wrong.
