Will need to remove the inside panel to access the latch --on the panel is a plug which with a screw driver will let you manually open latch which makes working on hatch easier

How can the tailgate be opened on a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer SUV? The tailgate wont open even with the handle and the key?

Normally, Ford puts a button inside the glove box. It should be in there, or under the right hand side of the passenger side dash board.

Why will my drivers door not open, even though it locks and unlocks with key fob.

Sounds like the activator rod that goes from the door Handle to the latch is disconnected. You will have to get the door open to repair it and a good mechanic or tow truck driver can use a slim Jim kit to get the latch to release and then you can pull the door panel and find the problem.

The latch to unlock the drivers door with the key is broke need to find the part to fix it

I don't list the door lock cylinder available aftermarket, so you will probably need to get it from a Ford dealer.

I have a 1996 Mercury Mountaineer. Sometimes the drivers side interior door handle does not open the door. It moves but ti does not open the door. This is a on again, off again problem. Is it connected...

no the latch could be hanging up, the keyless entry pad has no mechanical connection, lube the latch area generously, ....even pull the highest bolt holding the latch in place and with the red nozzel spry into the bolt hole .....hold handle in up position and close door like ten times or more to work the lube into moving components....... make sure when this happens that the lock is fully rising to allow to open,
may need and actuator also if thats not occuring.

Goodmorning! I had purchased a 2000 mercury

spray a small amount of W/D 4o into the key lock and then put the key in and move it back and forward until the lock free up and also spray a small amount in the inside lock of the door as well and then do the same on the other side the reason you had this problem is because the last owner only used the remotes to lock and unlock the doors and not the key sometimes.
