2006 chevy silverado k1500 extended cab z71 off road truck starts fine but when u go to shift into drive or any gear truck

The linkage came loose from the shifter to the transmission, I suspect. That should be an easy, or cheap fix.

2006 chevy silverado 1500 extended cab z71 off road what are ground wires underneath the engie hood to firewall

Those wires are to prevent static buildup on the hood. This buildup causes static noise on the audio system when driving. Also those straps are used for ground on the engine compartment light.

2006 5.3ltr chevy silverado z71 p0455 andp0449

These codes are for the evaporative emission system. The 455 is the vent solenoid. The 455 is a large leak in the evap.system.The vent solenoid I would replace because they go bad and will not work because they are under the vehicle in the rear of the truck. There is a bulletin for these and the vent valve is installed in another spot. The number for the bulletin is 02-06-04-037E.You should also look for a broken or loose hose or pipe that might have came off.Specially if you ran over something. If none found it could just be the vent solenoid stuck in the venting position.Good luck.

Speedometer

The stepping motors in the gauges go bad. do a search on ebay for CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER for cheaper repair options. The dealer charges around $300.00. It will continue to worsen.

I have a bad fuel pump and am going to replace it in my 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500. It is a Z71 Shortbed extended cab. I have read a couple of posts from different people who say it is easier to remove...

definitely easier to remove the bed....unless you like the taste of dirt :-)....round up 3-4 buddys and everyone grab a corner after the bolts, ground straps, and fuel filler are loose, pick it up and set it back a foot or two (on the tires and bumper). That'll give you plenty of room to work.
