check fuel pump relay under hood if its good check fuel pump if pump is good change fuel filter still no start then test for fire to plugs no fire replace cap rotor got fire to plugs check for broken timeing belt good luck
I had the same problem in my 3sFE, I thought the same way you did, but it turn out to be the fan, check if there is any play in the fan, change it and your scrutching noise will be no longer there
The fuel pump should run for a second or two when you first turn the key on, but then shuts down to prevent the engine from flooding if the computer does not get a signal from the crank or cam sensors which the computer uses to trigger the ignition system. So no spark no fuel. Check to see if you have a spark in the ignition system.
follow the bottom radiator hose. the end covers the thermostat. which also covers part of the w/p housing. a ***** to remove. ie..... jack up motor , removal of timing belt pulleys etc.
the pump is connected to the cam belt and is very tricky you could do a lot of damage if you set the timing wrong. when is the timing belt due for changing it would be done then or get it done now and save money incase you run out of water and blow your head gasket
